Phil was a guest poser at a show I went to a while back and when he stepped on stage I could not believe my eyes. He looked so huge it was amazing.

There was a time when Phil Heath first turned pro that he didn't look particularly impressive in the off-season. I know it's hard to believe but he didn't even look particularly big for an amateur bodybuilder except for his unusually large but soft arms.

While I have absolutely no insight or knowledge of Phil's "supplement" regimen, he looked like he was completely off everything for several months (perhaps even off training too).

He kinda of reminded me of Kevin Levrone in the offseason. For those familiar with Levrone, he was a pro bodybuilder half the year and a musician who didn't even lift weights during the other half of the year. He was the master of transformations.

I think the pro scene has all but abandoned the "off" during the offseason.

interesting. off season seems to be trt. and then a blast.
ive heard of this before but thought i heard it about ron coleman. maybe in earlier years. or maybe i got the wrong name. levrone is a great one.
cycling seems to be out of style. its balls to wall. every day. every workout. and if not. well, your not hardcore. light days. theyre to recuperate. every set to failure. then youve failed. and beyond. you need help. just to get the weight up. advance technique. ok. but having to recuperate a week after a workout seems impractical. but i dont compete at that level. keep it fresh. so you can. if you have to. my mind. shit happens. and bodybuilding contests are subjective.
but the "supplement industry" needs money. never mind the fact that research goes on. or should. into excellent human performance. and people need funding to continue on and above. there seems to be a disconnect with bodybuilding these days. its a fringe sport. bodybuilders are viewed as too extreme. and riddled with drug abuse. abuse. depends on who you ask. goals. everyone is different. but alot of what i read is applicable everywhere. so i try to learn what i can. so i can be bigger, faster, stronger, ... better ... blah blah blah.

and while were on the topic of cycling. or am i.
being on year round seems "wrong". misguided. if you can step it up when needed. alright. but to be constantly on guard seem, desperate. and im not without insecurities. hope im not alone.
but cycling in general seems beneficicial. feast or famine. ying or yang. in or out. black or white. neither here nor there. in or out . or. in and out. in and out. and so continues. what . sometimes the news makes me sick.

and while were on the subject of cycling. oh wait.
maybe i should cycle off for a bit. the views nice from up here. but its getting warm. and im afraid my wings might melt off. and ill plummet back to earth. like icarus.
and then cycle on. or back on. "on" cause beach season is coming.
on. off. on off. wtf am i talking about. not sure. a lot times these post are really for me. just to get thoughts together. or more together. togetherer.
ill start tomarrow. maybe.

Phil lives in my home state. I have been amazed at the changes he has made to his body. The guy went from a skinny basketball player to a complete FREAK. The transformation is just mind blowing. He is truly "gifted"

What is this "off" thing that you are referring to??? LOL!

Only quitters go off...

Only quitters go off...

um, yeah. off is for guys not interested in trt. not this early. and it doesnt sound that great. and i dont want to depend on someone else for something i should produce naturally. there are limits to the body. and structurally you can only lift so much. and lifting just for massive muscle size. why so many massive muscle tears. tearing muscles off the bone isnt impressive. and seems to be a new pheomenon. and uncontrolled growth is called cancer.
it just seems a little more natural. on. off. night. day. asleep. awake. summer. winter. in most sports there is the off season. and steriod use has whats called post cycle therapy. or your just always on. well. all least your not quitter.
im focusing on nutrition. some supplementation. because some are worthwhile. maybe the occasional on. short cycles. and fuctional bodybuilding. somewhere inbetween.
and my off is a little different. because while im sure itll always reamain that, i am an asterisk. its time to get back to overall excellent human performace. im not interested in size for size sake.

I was joking brother...

um, yeah. whoops! did i misjudge that bad. my mistake. maybe. its not the first time i thought of putting someone on blast for what i thought were dumb comments. maybe i took it to heart. and im unfamiliar with the name heavyiron. which doesnt really mean anything. but...
im a bodybuilding fan. no doubt. i just dont know how much bigger guys can get. and pro bodybuilding is almost its own subculture nowadays. i sometimes wonder how functional pro bodybuiders are. i mean. they look good on stage. but... hope someone feels me a little. and yeah. maybe i should fucking chill out a bit. but these are some of the thoughts that go through my mind. which isnt always grounded. gotta work on that. i got ideas. and so much dumb shit to say its not even funny. or some of it is. my perception is usually really good. time to clense those doors.;)
