Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick thinks anabolic steroids and "possibly DMAA" are to blame for the death of champion strongman Mike Jenkins. The 400-lb Jenkins had an "immensely" enlarged heart that was twice the size of the average mans. Hetrick thinks its because of steroids. I guess the coroner apparently didn't notice the enormous size of Jenkins and/or dismissed it as a reason for his enlarged heart.

Hetrick said the direct cause of death for Jenkins, a county resident who died in his sleep in November, was an "immensely" enlarged heart that the coroner attributed to Jenkin's use of anabolic steroids.

Jenkins' heart was at least twice the size of an average man's, Hetrick said.

In addition to the steroid use, Hetrick said the presence of DMAA, methylhexanamine, was found in Jenkins' system. DMAA is a stimulant that increases heart rate and blood pressure and constricts blood vessels.

Jenkins, 31, who owned the local CrossFit Gamma gym, was among the globe's premier strength athletes.

The 6-6, 400-pound competitor placed fourth in the 2013 World's Strongest Man competition and in 2012 won the Arnold Strongman Classic, which is named for famed strongman and bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger. Jenkins also had played football for James Madison University.

My sentiments exactly Millard. 6'-6" and 400 pounds. That is huge. I can't imagine his size. And the stress that he's had to put his body through.

Damn 31.....

Jenkins had just returned from a trip to China, was feeling ill, had lost 30 to 40 pounds of body weight and apparently believed he had contracted a disease while overseas, the coroner said. "He indicated to his wife that he wasn't lifting like he normally did," Hetrick said. "He was tired."

Now why so long...also the article does not give a cause of death i.e. heart failure, liver failure and so on.

Hetrick said it took seven months to make a ruling on the death because specialized toxicology testing had to be done.

Here is the classic unproven point here did he die from steroids inconclusive but the coroner makes sure everyone is aware.....

"I would urge parents to monitor what their kids are buying on the internet as far as performance enhancers and stimulants," he said.

I would urge parents you should be monitoring your children anyways period against anything know your child.

Exactly. I'm sure AAS and DMAA didn't help. But rather than use the tragedy as an opportunity to explore all the reasons that may have contributed to Jenkins' death, the coroner uses it as an opportunity to demonize a single cause (i.e. drug use - AAS and DMAA) as the culprit.

It's hard to take the coroner's concerns over health seriously when the coroner fails to address the issue of body size. It's not easy to miss.

Lol if any other 400lb person died they would say they weighed too fucking much and it put tons of stress on their heart. This guy dies and its deff steroids
