42 on trt

Hello all,
Been lurking here off and on over the years, trying to research and learn all I can before pulling the trigger on a cycle. Im 42, recently started trt (last 2 blood tests before test levels in the 280 to 320 range.) Used to do a more powerlifting type of workout, covid shutdown killed gains from years of lifting and just recently getting back in to good shape. Planning to lose about 20 or 30 lbs before getting my feet wet with a 1st blast. Any advice, diet tips, threads to read or things i should know over the next 3 or so months while i get my body back in a position for a first run would be greatly appreciated.

Get brushed up on your diet and nutritional needs. Cut the weight. Then maybe 200mg/ml test c every week. Add some anavar at 25-50mg and go from there.

Also go to your doctor and get a prescription for test and some bloodwork.

I won’t point you in the direction of one single post because I feel there are a bunch of beneficial post. Get your nutrition dialed in and enjoying learning here!

Thanks. The TRT im on is prescribed. Cleaning up the diet pretty well, need to up the cardio and dial everything in for sure. And dont worry, I'm in no big hurry to jump. All about trying to do this safely. I've waited 42 years whats a few more months. And what you recommended was just about what i had in mind when the time comes. Thanks!

I turn 42 myself this week

Some advice I can give, that I think you’ll probably actually listen to since you’re not a child, is keep your health in mind and don’t let the trt make you think you’re 22 again. Your body isn’t. Trt makes you feel young again which is fantastic. It definitely changed my life for the better, but don’t let it go to your head. Be conservative and patient with your aas use, maximize the benefits from the smallest possible dosages.

Its easy to monitor things like your blood sugar, and blood pressure. If you’re not already doing those things start there. When you’re ready to blast first time get bloodwork done first. If possible, it would be better to time it so you have your annual physical first. When you’re sure you’re good to go make sure to eat and train well while on otherwise it a waste.

Before blasting I would make sure you have absolutely everything you need or might need on hand, including AI, nolva in case of gyno, etc.

As far as what to do, if you already know you’re doing well with your test you could plan 12 weeks, start by doubling your trt dose. Assess how that’s going after 4 weeks and potentially increasing up to max 400-600mg per week by the end of 12 weeks.
But keep in mind more is not always better. Think of it like this. If you have a headache and I give you three advil, now your headache is gone, are you mad you didn’t take five? There’s lots of guys just taking five and thinking that’s what they need. When I did my first cycle everyone said you do 500test a week and that was your first cycle. While it’s outdated, it’s nots bad advice to do a test only cycle at first. It’s just the dosage is too cookie cutter and static. You need to find out what works for you.

I would resist the urge to add other compounds and orals to your first cycle. Hopefully there will be plenty more opportunities for those. We’re old, not dead. Knowing how each drug effects your body and how you are reacting will allow you to make adjustments and get the best results. If there are too many unknown variables, you won’t know what is doing what.

For other compounds I’m a fan of deca personally. For orals Anavar is very popular. I really like tbol but most people don’t so I wouldn’t suggest it.

Welcome and Good luck

The strenght gain could also be dangerous sometimes. Be careful in adding weight to your lifts. I hurt my pecs on my last blast, luckily it was a strain not a tear so it only took a month to recover completely.

Just be sensible on how you add the poundage and even with the boost make sure you warm up and follow proper lifting techniques.

Good luck Sir.

I appreciate the advice brother. Im being extremely cautious, i do indeed monitor my blood sugar/pressure. I am taking things slow and am even taking a lower dose than the 200mg a week prescribed to me by the clinic for now, until next blood test. Have physical and other bloods scheduled with my primary soon. Will adjust trt dose with doc depending how things are looking.
