A friendly reminder (VPN)

Whelp fucking RIP lol. Not much you can do about feds. I teach that if your threat level is US federal you're likely done for.

It's not impossible but you have to take extraordinary measures. But 99% of the time being busted is failed opsec. Human error.
Live and learn right?

Luckily for me I was fresh outta school so it wasn’t terribly terrible, I still made a future for myself lol.

VPNs aren't for privacy anyway if you don't know. No one tracks by IP anymore.

Yeah they use browser signatures and various other techniques.

For me personally, I keep two sets of devices. One set is for all my real identity activities such as banking, amazon, ebay, etc. That activity has my real ip exposed because I don't care.

My other devices are always VPN connected 24/7 and I use that for forums such as Meso, general social media reading (Youtube Videos), and general browsing.

My goal is to only let the 3rd party data mining companies see what I want them to see with regards to my online activity.

Since I was given negative feedback on the post above let me clarify because I was thinking of a vpn from a commercial tracker side of it. From a law enforcement side yes they would obviously track by IP.

HOWEVER

Increasingly law enforcement uses commercial intel databases to get information about suspects. And IP addresses are the least of your worries from that.

A VPN is the lazy way of attempting to not be tracked. If your security threat involves law enforcement you better be using TAILS or whonix from a public wifi.

A good friend of mine got rejected from Raytheon because his AAS use was exposed by one of those intel databases. He lied about the AAS use on his security clearance application.

I'm not sure this needs to be said but if you use your real identity including address for ANYTHING except banking and medical your out of touch with reality. Privacy is a marathon, pay for your email service, setup a new identity for everything new you do online and use a service like privacy.com for all online payments that are not cypto.

I've been using Mullvad VPN, which just keeps getting better and better. They recently added DAITA support and quantum resistant tunnels. Operation is also flawless on iPhone.. it stays connected 24/7. One nice feature is the ability to split-tunnel per application, so I can remain connected to VPN and still use banking sites without being nagged for extra authentication. In my case, I have selected Edge to be split tunneled and use it exclusively for banking.
