A Southern Yankee's Winter Blast

I'm sorta at a loss with arms lately as it is.

Stalled growth? Ya I know the feeling. I refuse to let a stall set in. I'm more focused than I have ever been to right the wrongs nature gave me. Arms are the worst feature on me. But that is changing quickly ;)

They get preferential treatment 2x weekly. Sets are not super important neither is weight. And I'm finally putting it all together. I have the attitude this measly 50 lb curling bar will not break me. Do it medium to light. Pick a weight you can do for 12 and slow it down so you get 8. Then static hold that bitch when you can't move the weight any more. Then do an excruciating negative. THEY WILL GROW!!!

What do I have to show? Nothing special yet. Only 18.75" no fat or very little. But the big picture is only a year ago they sat at 16.5. Care to do the math on that?

I won't be denied. Neither should you

Damn truck!!! With a mindset like this, im gonna agree with you.
You will NOT be denied !!!!! 20' here you come.

Im far too big for 20's that's only another inch. For proper scale better biggie size my shit. I need 21's and I'll get it. The body builder effect is dependent on the overly big arms. It's all proportion. I need a bigger proportion ;)

I prefer to utilize time under tension with body weight related movements. Being 260+ I have alot of weight dragging me down already. So what a 230 pounder might add a weighted belt for, I already have a natural one. Called my balls. :)
In the end this is about muscle growth. And pushing more weight is a factor in growth. Weighted dips it's a added weight for growth thing right? It's all relative in body weight movements, myself at 185 maxing on reps is the same as you at 260 maxing on reps. It's relative to our size. Using your logic you are growing at the same rate as me if added 2 plates to my dips (to get to 275 total weight) and you did them with body weight. That's just a crock of shit.
Are you stronger than me, yes of course. But are you growing at an equal rate as me if I'm dipping with added weight and you are doing bodyweight? I don't believe that to be a true statement.

Someone correct me if I'm off base here?

The only way my arms ever look good is in a most muscular. They look great like that. When I shoot a double biceps you first notice the width of my breast plate and lats. Biceps are an after thought at that point. They still suck. You see that's the big guys curse. I know others can attest to that. BRUTUS?

Long arms take away from the overall appeal of a great biceps shot. Unless you got a real developed massive set of snakes. Then it's a show stopper.

Francos arms were world class but nothing next to arnold. Arnold is the big man's super hero

I wouldn't focus on the weight. That's a weightlifters mentality. I'm not here to compete in a weight lifting competition. I'm here to use tools to induce maximum hypertrophy. The more wise I get and all these years behind me make me understand the best tool isn't always the biggest sludge hammer I can pull from my toolbox. Some times it's the little hammer that can tear your ass apart

Then why not use TRX solely? Don't add any weights to any movement. Do all bodyweight movements?
That argument makes no sense when we are all pushing around weights to induce growth.

I don't know what to tell you. I do know when the cameras are off these mighty mighty pros ain't pushin that weight around. It was all for the show.

Sure, some people can grow to enormous proportions using strength based exercises. Coleman, puzianowski and others.

But also many others don't have that type of strength like Heath and Dillett who are just as developed.

I just want you to understand time under tension is probably the most important thing in a bodybuilders tool box. That and progressive overload. Not to say progression like a powerlifting would view it. Where you need a 500 lb bench to be legit. Progression may only mean an extra 5 lbs to the bar. Cuz 5 pounds extra for 1 set of 10 is an increased load of 50 lbs. That's huge!

Time under tension I understand, but if you can bang out sets of 20 body weight dips it's time to up the weight. Just like if you can bang out sets of 30lb dumbbell curls. You don't just keep adding reps or sets you up the weight. I was never speaking of doing max weight for 1 rep, that is a power lifters mind set.

Well whatever we can agree to disagree.

This cut will take care of that, you be wondering when the last time was you could do 15+ pullups
I think you got me all mixed up warrior, I'm not a weakling. I don't post about strength feats often cuz it's not relevant to my goals. I can get 15 pull ups absolutely I can. If I just make the exercise easy and not slow it down. You know regular pullups

I love 30 pound dumbbell curls! If I keep doing them and continue to add inches to my arms why would I stop? To look more like a man heaving a heavy dumbbell around? Nope

In fact you may just find me in the women's section with the color coded rubber weights. And if I'm still breaking my snakes in to the stratosphere then who's getting it done? Me or the skinny guy crushing 125lb bicep curls?

I don't see anyone disagreeing with this, am i right?

I'm not disagreeing. Progressive overload is a factor in muscle growth.

There are a couple other factors equally as important. In case you guys haven't figured it yet I'm talking about TIME. Time between sets, time under tension. TIME. Has a more powerful effect on muscle break down I believe.

We all know progressive overload Doesn't last forever. You literally cant just keep adding weight. Otherwise I would be benching 900 for reps by now.

You have to consider other ways to tear the muscle down. So please take some weight off that bitch and you'll c :)

I know once I add 20+ lbs of fat my pull-ups go bye-bye . My dips suffer too , but not like my pull-ups/chin-ups . Right now I suck...
Ya. I got fat sure. It doesn't effect me much unless you tell me to do hanging leg raises. Then I just look like a helpless ape hanging from a branch complaining how it hurts.

I got big man strength. I can explain it. It's just a natural thing. It seems to be hit and miss. I've seen midgets have it (5'6"and under) I've seen retards have it. My Samoan friend in high school had it. You know that scary strength that when the shit goes down you can pick up a fuckin car or throw down 405 on the bench and not even practice it. Or close the distance with the enemy and amano amano choke the life out of him with nothing but pure anger and overwhelming death grip. It's one of those things. I can always bust some thing out ;)
