Adderall

Guess it depends where one begins on the "intelligence ladder". I mean really if your at the bottom, like many kids with ADHD are, many things are helpful but Adderall is much easier and cheaper than direct human intervention.
:)

I was an RA for researcher who showed CBT as effective as Ritalin. But much more costly.

Is Adderall overprescribed? Maybe.

Do some people who are lazy use ADD as an excuse? I'm sure.

Does all of this mean that Adderall is wrong for everybody because it's an amphetamine? An amphetamine just like the coffee we drink every morning? I strongly disagree.

I do have ADD, but did it take an extensive test to prove it?No.

The Doc gave it and asked me if it gave me a better quality of life. Thats all - and it did. And after being prescribed it a couple years ago, the quality of life is just so much better. And personally, the addictive nature of it is overblown. I dont take it everyday - only on days when I need to concentrate to the fullest at work. It has even improved my standing in my job/career because it helps me think in ways I could not before. Sounds crazy I know but it's true.

Downsides? Other than crappy appetite, I dont see any. But again, I dont abuse it.

Your last sentence characterizes why Adderall seems appropriate in your case.
However, many people have a VERY DIFFICULT time controlling their
destructive and maladaptive behavior especially when confronted with addictive substances. Why is the current occupancy rate at rehabilitation facilities at an all time high, pardon the pun.
No doubt some is the reflection of society finally acknowledging substance abuse is best treated as a medical problem, with outlandish psychosocial and financial consequences for all involved, rather than criminal infraction.

I'm sure you don't believe my cup of morning Joe is classified as an amphetamine or addictive.
