AI, Customs, and the Future of International Shipments. Long read.

Good thread @BALLISTIC I agree with a lot of the concerns but I have to say that muon tomography would be incredibly inefficient for scanning incoming packages. The US has over 3 million incoming packages per day from abroad.

Cosmic muons arrive at roughly ~1 muon per cm² per minute, using quick napkin math, it would most likely take over a day to scan a single 20ft shipping container as of right now.

You did mention that it will improve, and while I agree, I don't believe that will help the fundamental process and it would still slow it down.

Most drugs aren't that dense either so it would constantly be a balancing act between total overkill, time and false matches.

The features needed for scanning incoming packages can be done by X-Ray like they have now. It's fast (minutes for an entire container), cheap and the machines that they have access to already discriminate materials way better than what we're used in (for example) hospitals.

One of the missing links with X-ray was always (better) AI/recognition, which like you said, that's going to be an even bigger problem now.

Better stock up.
I didn't look that far into its operation needs to be honest so thanks.

VACIS is already utilized and was advance tech in the middle east between 2002-2005. It became more prominent shortly after as it advanced rapidly, gamma ray vision systems have jumped light years ahead in today's world.

Where they have a will, they pay for, manufacturer, acquire, the way.

its a possibility in the future time nothing will be available with this kind of technology as it seems?everybody will be natural lol
If that were true, then think about this. This would imply that bodybuilding itself would be utterly destroyed. The sport would perish completely. I highly doubt that this is a realistic expectation in the coming years. However, we aren't sure what this means for recreational, non-competing folks who enjoy using PED's to enhance their life for the better. Honestly, no one has a fucking clue what this new ai technology will do for the PED world in the near future.

Yeah I don't think we're seeing the end of anything. I believe we are seeing stricter process that will create inflation due to demand and lack of resource.

Most packages still get through, with the real focus being illicit recreational drugs. But as this system bottlenecks it will undoubtedly catch more with less human effort.

Ultimately somewhere, sometime, somehow... Someone will find a successful way to circumvent. Also not far fetched for each country to start developing domestic production.

I had a shipment from India. It took a little over a month. It sat in ISC New York for over three weeks with no movement or activity. Finally, there was movement the past few days, and I received the package today. It had very obviously been opened from the bottom. The original tape had been cut, and then they had laid a single strip of clear tape over that to close it back up. it was just potassium so I really don't care, but it is technically a prescription because it isn't those pussy 99mg Potassium Citrate tablets but 1080mg ones. Anyway, on top of the package they had written in permanent marker "FDA." I have included a picture below and redacted everything so as not to include PII. I've already said too much.

Since I happen to be an expert in nothing yet know a little about everything, I still like to chime in with my thoughts and questions from time to time. My question is this: If my oils are being irradiated with gamma rays and they somehow make it through customs, when I inject those gamma-irradiated oils, will I turn into the Hulk? Preferably not the jacked, green, and deaf one, but the Avengers version?

Your guess is as good as mine, now I'm going to go down that rabbit hole. Thanks I'll be back in a couple hours. Haha

This ^

And there is many more stories like this, with just as many passing unnoticed. So it's ultimately driving my curiosity as to how, why, when, and for what reasons do they pick 1 and not the other?

DeMinimis is further restricted. So it's interesting they locate something then slap it shut and move along. The FDA physically inspected your package, which is obvious from the sealing of the package you described. Plus the FDA sticker notifying further down the line to physically examine.

It just makes me feel so good that an entity that has historically just had all Americans' best interests at heart is now being included in gatekeeping the importation of medicines. I know they are going to do what is best for me.

I'm wondering if I've got a "package count" now, and if I continue to receive anything, it automatically gets inspected because of that, ultimately leading to a letter or worse if I go beyond a certain threshold.

The good thing is that this last package finishes out my stockpile for close to a year on everything I take. I wish I had gotten Telmisartan, but I can get that through TelyRx if nothing else. Hands-down, the best blood pressure medicine I've ever been on, and it reduced my hematocrit by eight points over eight weeks. I was not expecting that. Then I started researching how it works, and it's actually very interesting. It's not temporary.

So I'll tell you I am aware of the VACIS truck being used in the middle east to scan vehicles. Typically the occupants were supposed to be removed and staged outside the area. The vehicle has a boom that extends and the vehicle passes between. A small amount of radiation the penetrates the vehicle to image the contents. It was important not to expose humans obviously. Unfortunately it was time consuming in comparison to stopping a line of cars, then driving a line with the VACIS, imaging multiple vehicle rapidly. The long-term effects I don't think are known yet. I don't think they ever will be.

They use those here in the US as well. Once in a while you’ll see them on the dock with the trucks with containers driving through.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it utilizes a small marble size plutonium? If I'm not mistaken. It may have changed from the early 2000s
