Anderson Silva And Views Of Aas Use In Ufc

You gotta love when Anderson da Silva appeals to the "think of the children" argument when considering why steroids are "bad":

People around the world love the UFC, but the kids love the UFC, and the families love UFC. It’s bad for the sport. I don’t think this is good because the sport can change the lives of the kids and the people in the world.

“When the guys test for the steroids, it’s bad because this is a problem. It’s bad not just for the UFC, but for the sport.”

At the highest level of sport the delta between athlete's ability, skill, talent, etc is small. The difference between winning and losing can be fractions of a second or having the right state of mind. Here at this level PEDs can have a large affect. The athlete has to sacrifice so much to get to the pro level, why not let them push the limits of their potential with AAS. They are already there mentally, might as well let the body follow.

@Millard Baker IIRC some time ago you exchanged differences in opinions on PED use and testing in the UFC with Dana White?

Skill, Strength, and Luck are what win MMA fights..
AAS will increase strength, so it can help a lot.. especially
when the skill level of both fighters is close..
give me a break, I just wanted in on the conversation

Anderson Silva is Canadian, and we Americans don't care what Canadians think :-)

will be less and less buff ufc fighters in the ring in the near future :(
You think those ripped 180lb bodies in there are from AAS?

The only thing that continuously changed since I started
working out, is my workout.. How I train..
I never had abs showing nice
until I was 42yrs old... even better at 43 without diet, high dosed AAS or more
than 1hr and 45min a WEEK training..

Tendons and Ligaments are not built to handle
grinding sets of heavy weight pounding them rep after rep set after set
hour after hour day after day min.. OK you got it, I get it

They are built for fast speedy speed reps like Bruce Lee does.. DID..

I do all my reps slow.. grinding slow? no just slow and light..
I might invest in a pair of those purple dumbbells .

Chime in anytime
Open for business

Absolutely!!

No, I was serious.
I was thinking of another Muay Thai fighter from Canada..

Not GSP..
..I know GSP and think he is more entertaining..

I couldn't tell because most Brazilians like to be on the bottom :-)

GSP has said he will not return to the ring until there is indivdual drug testing! Johnny Hendricks rang his bells... and GOOD! And as my father used to say "never so high you fly, that you can't come down!" GSP has seen his better days... and so has Anderson Silva! ;)

Thing is im not really sure gear would help that much. I mean what would be the purpose? To train more often ? Regarding endurance and recovery sure it helps but fighting is technique based not muscle based. The thinly built guy like anderson silva would blister my face up or yours or any body in here. Despite me being much stronger and bigger.

1 buddy of mine said it perfectly, it's not a problem when you have to fight a 300 lb guy, but it is a problem when you have to fight a 300 lb guy who knows how to fight. As it is full contact martial arts prevail 90% of the time so have fun blistering a 300 lb sambo fighter as a 150 lb kick boxer...
