Another pec tear..

@JC456 this is my first tear while not running aas.

The first time it was the typical "holy shit" strength gain where my bench went from 250 natty to 350 in 8 weeks.

Yesterday was with a weight I normally rep for sets of 12 with no issue...

I always lower under control, always pause BP... From reading most tears occur because of the quick rebound most guys use off the chest... I don't do that so, if.. Unless I'm losing my back, or flaring my elbows and not realizing it..
barbell???

Sorry brother. Yes I know the feeling and very similar experiences as you. Both of my were well below max and at the bottom part of the eccentric portion of the press.

I will say on both of mine I had some warning signs in terms of feeling some things that weren't normal while benching in the weeks leading up to it but instead of taking time off I pushed through.

My last tear was a year ago July. Ironically a bicep tendon tear forced me to take a lot of time off heavy benching and actually seems to have allowed the pec to finally heal. I'm not back up over 400 where I was prior to the pec tear but have been over 350 with no pec pain at all.

Good luck with your recovery. My guess is if you are willing to completely give up benching for 90 days the pec will fully recover.

Before the first one I had warning signs - a lot of tightness in my bicep tendon at the shoulder insertion, and some odd twinges when I would unrack the bar.

This last one was a surprise. I'm more mobile than ever, I've been off AAS for ages just working on building my natural strength base..

Idk... I'll definitely be resting it, and just focusing on squats and deads for a while for sure.

My last tear I started light presses after 6 weeks of rehabbing, I'll take longer this time
