LOL!! Maybe your right on the eating dried dog shit, cause that what it tastes like. I couldnt tell you why it taste like ass. All that I know is that it was jus awful. My Uncle made some venison roast and I just about yaked. However, Im sure the jerkey tastes better since all the spices/flavors mask the taste.
Or maybe deer in different parts of the country taste different based on what they eat (corn, weeds, or whatever).

Innards......not sure where to start on that one. Im sure their good for you, however, I figure if the meat tastes bad, then the innards must be far worse, not to mention their texture and appearance.
Like I said bro, I was not flaming anyone! Hell, why would I care what you eat. Your saving a grip of cash eating the animals you kill.
Peace
Diablo
Deer meat tastes like any other red meat to me,but i think you are on to something with the innards. Ever since the Lime Desease got bad over here,no one eats the liver anymore... Turkey has more protein and less fat than deer, and what about Ostridge meat? You guys who hunt for your deer meat are just wasting your ammo and time. When ever i'm in the mood for some deer,i head out the the nearest highway. There are plenty of dead ones on the side of the road. It's just wasted meat. Sometimes you may find a few magots on them, but brush them off and you won't even be able to tell the difference in taste.

I eat the steaks very rare and it tastes wonderful. Heart tastes wonderful. Liver isn't wonderful, but it's not bad. Might taste a little gamey, but it's extremely good for you.

Dude, your waaaay off here. Why would you brush the maggots off?
Talk about wasting-- just hit them with a few microwaves and a little tobasco sauce- BAM! additional protein.
Just stay away from the anus/rectum meat, as it tends to absorb the deers egg farts, leaving it tasting....well.......eggy.

Venison is great!

I think I'm with Ted Nugent on this one, lol. I hunt almost exclusively with a bow and arrow though. I also shoot competition, and am a national staff shooter for a very reputable bow company. For those of you who havent tried venison, you're missing out! There are countless ways to prepare it. One of my friends made me some sausage one day, and It was awesome. He chopped green peppers, onions, and cheese and ran it through the grinder and made the patties. WOW! You can even dehydrate ground venison mixed with say, 10% fat "to avoid rubberyness" , and then I usually press the greasy excess off of it. It is much better, and better for you than store bought jerky. Store bought jerky :MSG!,Yum, tendon jerky. they put so much $hit in there, and sodium by the shovelful!
