Tall giants help me out, 6’8 buddy.

What up yall. Just trying to gauge some nutrition/diet for a tall giant.
I got my buddy in the gym and he’s 6’8 226 right now. Solid build.

Obviously everyone has different caloric intake needs and diet preferences. I know.
Sure I can plug in on a calculator or watch a YouTube video. But no.
I want it first hand from some tall dudes.
Just want a rough idea of how some of yall tall mother fuckers eat.

I’m 6’3 225 & my diet definitely isn’t enough for him.
Basically since he’s getting serious in the gym now I just have him making sure to hit his protein goal of 1.2X+ of body weight.
easy enough for now.

I don’t want to stress him out over diet and macros right now. Not till he’s really locked in to the gym and shows the serious intent behind training.
Any slight help or tips would be cool. Thanks

It's more metabolism dependent than height, I think. I'm 6'5 ~230 currently and eat nothing compared to some of the average height dudes here. Maintenance for me with a fairly active job that has me on the move driving or walking the entire day is like 2400ish.

I have no idea how dudes eat 4-5K plus a day.

i eat basmati rice, organic cream of rice, rice cakes, pita breads , cereal in the morning.. would eat it all the time but its enriched too much with minerals

What’s a “rough idea”? You need to actually track your diet at least once, otherwise it’s just guessing. Don’t just copy the calorie intake of bigger guys, eating 4000+ because some giant does, it won’t make you grow if your maintenance is 2500. That will just give you stomach problems.

A better approach is to calculate maintenance, add 300-400 kcal, and then check bodyweight weekly. If the scale doesn’t move, add a bit more. That way you find YOUR individual surplus instead of shooting in the dark. As for macros, I’d put focus on carbs, they’re the most important nutrient for strength training. Make sure your buddy is getting in some simple carbs 1-1.5h before training for energy.

Pretyy much what I have him doing. Adding more calories and adjusting for scale and physique changes.

Had him buy some karbolyn to have intra
( & pre workout if he can’t get a carb meal in before)

That’s the right track, man! Wishing you and your buddy solid progress in the gym!
