I am hunting 4th season. being in college got me out of the swing of things so this will be my first year back in almost 10 years. I cant wait. there are so many damn turkeys here. I will be very surprised if i dont get a couple. They can be hard but a turkey is much easier than a nice whitetail.

Been hunting them for 3 years now and nothing.I'm in N.C. and went to North Wilksboro last Saturday.Hunted all day but the turkey were not answering calls.Only time I heard a gobbler was at day break and sunset.Hey thick why don't you invite me out(hint,hint).

I did'nt make it to the fall seasonn this year,,but went
last Sat and the same happened to me. They did not
gobble at calls. only in the morning. I'll go again not
this Sat. but the next,,,maybe they will be horny then
,,Lol.

I saw alot Sat. but no shooters, Just some Jakes and hens.
Might have to take a Jake the last Sat.

We have 4 seasons during spring and than have a fall season. I am not kidding, there are tons of turkeys here. I have 4th season which starts April 27th and lasts for 3 weeks. 4th season I believe a lot of the hens are already on the nest forcing the toms to be more agressive to calls.
A couple of my patients said that the ratio of hens to toms was like 12:1 so they were having trouble calling toms in. They were having lots of jakes come in though. Turkeys here always quit gobbling during the early morning but they will come into calls silently. From the hunters I have been talking to, a decoy in the field while set up in the brush during late morning etc has been very effective.

They are more weary at this time though. Maxx and Swool, feel free to pm or shoot me an email if you are serious. I will find out if I have any skills left next week. My dad was always a great caller but switched to golf. My brother still hunts them and has been doing pretty good. All i know is that there are tons of the bastards here.

i hope u at least got a tom to gobble. When i used to hunt the bastards there would be a half dozen all around gobbling their heads off. Next weekend I believe mine starts. I cant wait. Hate getting up so early though. Got to be in the timber by 6 at the latest

Where I hunt ,,up close to Virg. There pretty much
all over,,just stand on the porch at the Kins house
and listen to them Gobble and go from there. I might
get another chance to go up there next weekend
If the Wifey lets me,,Lol. Hope the Bastards are
horny and start coming to calls.

use a 12g Accu Mag,,3.5 shell. That sum-bitch
kicks,,lol. But at 50 yards I can put 14 to 17
pellets in a bird. I think if I get 1 as close as
60yards I may take a shoot and see,,Lol.

I don' know anything about hunting Turkeys. I haven't hunted anything since I was 15 and living in PA. But when I was visiting my parents a couple of weeks ago, they have about a 4 acre lawn in rural central Fl, while we were having dinner a small flock of turkeys (maybe 7) entered their lawn. There was a huge gobbler. It was nearly more than I could stand not getting up from the table and shooting that turkey. I probably would have done it if my father had a gun larger than a .410.

About a year ago when I was up at my parents house I saw a flock of about 30 turkeys out in their back yard. I would have loved to take one of those birds for our next Thanksgiving.
