Anybody here actually train or is it just drugs?

I use progressive over load. But want to keep it a secret so i can be the largest natural guy around.

Training right now sucks balls.

I'm doing a modified ppl, but being on caloric deficit is draining all my energy.

I'm actually taking a day off work today since I know I will be so lethargic after PUSH day later lol.

I don't know how competitors with full time jobs able to function on prep days.

My lifts are holding, I'm not losing much strength, I just don't have the endurance to get to the last 6 sets so I lower the volume.

Split looks like this:

PUSH- Medium day
PULL- Medium day
LEGS- HIGH carb day
Off - LOW day
PUSH/PULL- Medium day
LAGGING PART- Medium day
Off - low day
Repeat.

Down 18lbs so far, 11 weeks in, 5 to go.

I’ve ran a few peoples programs but have mostly done my own thing. Currently doing both technically.

I bought the RP hypertrophy app for a year, figured I’d try that. Starting a blast as well. I finished the last 4 weeks of my cut using the app just getting the hang of it. I’m a few days in on upping the calories but won’t switch to my new template till this Saturday.

Going to hopefully bring up arms, shoulders, and chest (in that order).
are you going to start a log? If you do I’ll follow along to see how it goes.
How long do the workout’s typically take

I feel like people need to register for BB.com before they register for shit like this. The forums do cover alot the beginner needs of everything.

Diet. nutrition, training splits.

When I was a member there, Alan Aragon, Lyle Mcdonald, and Layne Norton were very big educators/influencers for me.

Yes I know there are clown on there etc, but that is the basis of alot of our training.

My training has changed alot since starting. Instead of focusing on raw strength, increasing change of injury, I switched to higher rep range and still make sure I suffer those last few reps
I like Layne and Alan a lot. I’ve got one of Lyles books.

I’m pretty beat up so my training is a lot different than it was when I was younger and more healthy

Nice I like the split.
18lbs in 11 weeks is crazy progress.
What carbs are you using on your highdays?

I don’t plan on it. There’s not that much activity in the log section and with the app logging everything it seems a moot point. I’ve had a 3,000+ post log on another popular forum and it was good, but just time consuming.

It would mostly just be me bitching about the sessions anyways hahaha

So these sessions with the app are taking quite a bit of time. 1.5 hours usually. I really really like the guys at RP, so I wanted to try this app. I’ve only used it for 4-5 weeks but so far I’m not seeing anything remotely ground breaking or new. So far it’s just a normal app that asks you if you got sore and was the pump hood and then adds another set. I’ve had to manually stop it from adding sets on some exercises because it just gets stoooid. 5+ sets of 20+ reps for rear delt flys is annoying towards the tail end of the workout..

I’m sitting at 200lbs and 6’ with probably 10-12% bf (I’ve had plenty of dexa scans before so I feel confident in my guesstimate, quad/hammy/rib/lower ab veins, but still some mid section and lower back chub). So, small and unimpressive. Still trying to learn how to make my body grow. Everything except for legs has been a challenge. With the right equipment my legs blow up, haven’t quite unlocked that with arms and shoulders. Back is decent though.

I started working out doing my own thing. Made some great progress and then things kinda stalled a couple years into it. Been fighting for the small progress I’ve made since.

I’ve had an actual coach before (respected iffb pro off here), I’ve also done some free programs and a couple paid programs and just haven’t quite got it all figured out yet. Either that or I’m way over estimating the progress one can make in the time frame I think.

Either way, I’m leaving no stone unturned for this bulk. It’ll end the first of the year and I have a baby due the first of the year. Who knows how dedicated I’ll be after that (for a brief time). So plan is to continue giving it wveruthing I’ve got, then just maintain for a couple months whil we get into a new normal, then start a summer cut with hopefully better results this time.

I logged my training on ugbodybuilding.com for about 3.5 years. We have at times had a very active journal section over there, and I feel like we do talk more about training than gear. We have gone from just a few people logging workouts to at times like 20 people, it has varied a lot.

I recently started using the Hevy app though because it's just really easy to use and I like it. Also my goals have changed a lot due to health reasons, so I don't have as much motivation for a goal oriented progress log.

Anyway, I do a very simple 5 day, progressive overload split for hypertrophy. Each day is a main compound lift followed by accessory work.

With rest days, I usually lift 5 out of every 8 days. The split looks like this:

Legs
Chest
Back
Shoulders
Arms

Usually taking a rest day after 2 days of lifting.

I do 15 mins walking on the treadmill 3.5mph x 7%incline pre-workout, and ride the bike 10 mins post workout, keeping my heart rate around 130 or so.

This routine has helped me make good progress. I started 4 years ago, and I've had some major setbacks along the way (i.e. atrial flutter and heart failure, which I have recovered from completely).

Here's my latest progress pic compared to where I started.

What equipment got ur legs to blow up?

What equipment got ur legs to blow up?

Hack squat. I’ve tried everything else and nothing blows them up like that. I actually budgeted the money to buy a new hack squat just for this blast, but when it came time to pull the trigger I just couldn’t make myself spend that much considering all the life changes I have going on currently.

Edit: I also leave my soul on the machine when I use it. I’ve never seen anyone push as hard on one as I do, but damn if it doesn’t work

Heck yea that's cool to hear you found what works for u there. I too have a home gym I put together nicely on a budget, but no space for a hack squat, i train at the gym with freinds once in a while and i do prefer the leg press and hack squat over barbell squat.

I train at home too. 30x40 shop and most of it’s the gym. It had everything I “need”, but damn.. I could fill a 100x100 with gym equipment and still have wants.

I know construction well i could build it all myself I think I could get it done In a 20x30, my gym space now is mabe 10x20 ft only. What hack squats where u looking at like a body solid, titan or a more fancy 1?

Yea it’s awesome man, I’m really blessed to have the space and equipment. Spent a few years collecting it all. 20x30 is still plenty of space for a gym!!

More fancy lol matrix.

For sure definitely a blessing. Gyms cool but home gym is where it's at, it's really hard to miss a day of training when u have to walk right by ur home gym, I hear it calling my name all the time lol.

Oh I’d MUCH rather train at a real gym. I was going to a gym that was loaded with Arsenal strength and prime equipment.. and FILLED with girls (and dudes) who compete. Unfortunately time is my enemy. Wife, kids, work.. the usual.

Me too my wife cut me off from the gym, always telling me all I care about is work and working out and i never make time for her and the kids, I still go once ina while on the weekends 20 min from my house 40 min round trip plus my workout time and gas and bridge tolls and gym fee. Am workouts not a option due to waking up at 4am for work. Gyming was becoming a bit much, I always had like a bench and dumbells but it was my wifes idea to invest more in my equipment. Its helped balance my life alot, and now even my wife and kids have got into training, I guess they got inspired watching what I do.
