Anyone know the "how-to" on turning the amps upside down to draw from?

I read in another thread about turning the ampule upside down to draw from. I also read some guys tried it and it poured out so I'm wondering if someone can tell me what the trick is so I don't waste a few learning. After removing the top portion of the amp, do ya have to flip it upside down super quickly or what's the deal?

thanks,

You don't need to turn the amp upside down. Just stick the pin in and suck it up. It's as easy as that.

In another thread, Southernjuice made it sound like it was easier to get every last drop inverting the amp. If doing this means you can avoid the needle swapping, it would be worth it to learn imo.

I never read the thread, if you can find it post the link.

I remember that thread also. Should be in the first few pages or so, it was posted in the last fortnight.

I tried it and ended up with 1ml of sus all over my needle rather than inside it. Just draw with 1 needle and inject with another. Needles are shit cheap, you won't be saving that much $$ by injecting with the draw needle.

Its largely a matter of the quality of the amp. In my years of practice, I have never turned a U.S. made amp of any drug, upside down, and had it spill. I have however used foreign amps, doing the same, & had them spill. I've been doing this a long time. While it should work one way, in my experience it does not always. Therefore it is generally best to learn to withdraw every last drop w/out having to invert the amp. This is of course IF you are new to this. If you have experience you know the answer to question as it relates to you. I generally always do not invert foreign amps. If it is a U.S. medication, & therefore all I would adminster to someone else, I will invert. For two reasons. One, I've never had one spill, & two, it is considered to be proper procedure. Oh, & make sure you tap the glass above the score, if all the oil does not fall that way, hold it by the head a shake in a snapping motion downward. I.E., make sure you get all of the oil out above the score.

I watched a Dr. in the hospital last nite do it. He snapped off the top, quickly inverted the amp and withdrew every last drop. It was a domestic amp.I noticed with some amps of turkish primo that they don't break off cleanly. I don't think I would try it with those. I think the trick is not to snap the neck off too short leaving a little. In my experience the foreign amps are very difficult to do that with. Needles are just too cheap to take a chance with wasting good gear.
