Anyone listen to music that isnt metal or rap at gym?

I really feel as though modern metal owes so much to their first two albums. It was so new and fresh hearing death metal vocals with clean vocals matched with death metal riffs that had a groove to them that the commoners could even enjoy.

That's what I mean by how hip-hop influenced the rest of what I like. Digging for an obscure sample, and suddenly you're hooked to a whole new genre. And I big fan of history I live seeing evolve and amalgamate.

I'm not sure there's a musical genre that evolved so quick and diversily.

2010s pop music + later country music + sprinkled with scattered gay pop and a few EDMs. These songs are generally upbeat or positive.

The beat and rhythm matches my workout, while also giving a feel good mental state while working out.

Sometimes the lyrics makes me smile while working out, making me give more to my working set.
 
I've listened to probably every single genre there is while working out.
Classical, trance, all kinds of asian stuff from those turtleshell looking things to kpop to japanese alt metal, techno, musicals, opera, jazz, lo-fi jazz... I think you get it.

I like alternating intensity and control focused workouts a lot just based on fuck all and the music helps focus on what I'm going for.

I'm not bodybuilding at all atm by the way, a shitload of controlled calisthenics, sometimes with light added weight, martial arts and mobility.
I've always mixed it up with bodybuilding as well, the non metal/ Evanescene/Linkin Park/Limp Bizkit days were further apart.

I don't listen to a particular genre when working out just whatever feels right at that moment, be that dubstep, rock, pop, piano..You get the picture.
 
I get intensity-boosting stimulation from actual stimulants (drugs).

I agree good music can also boost intensity. Just haven't been into wearing ear buds or headphones in the gym lately. Call me crazy.
 
Im an old dude stuck in the 80's. I listen to ELO, Foreigner, and a few others...keeps me moving through the gym and day. Main thing is to remember not to sign along outloud!
