Anyone use deer meat as they're #1 protein source

I think you'll be all right, man. Like OGH said, most of the bashing is in the Underground and it's done on entitled brats that feel they're owed something and those that are so stupid they're a danger to themselves and others. I just joined two months ago and it's been nothing but positive.

Perrin , you've been great to have here . Seems like youve been here for years .Your highly educated on the subject here and your one strong mo-fo too. If we had more new members like you we would have zero problems at Meso. Your a vet before his time :D

Two months shit I thought it was 2 years! For some reason figured you'd be here as long as me even though I have clearly followed you since first post :D OGH is right as usual man need more Perrins in the world the same as I need more flexible Asians in my life making everything better.

Also does moose count OP? I blew my knee this year 2 days before season opended but last year bagged myself a moose with a buddy and carried probably close to 400 pounds of it out, felt shitty that we had to leave so much behind but whether turned and we had a long ass trek out so 220lb pack was my max. Plan on doing more deer and elk as I'll be changing my hunting location and moose would be hit or miss (not me missing cause I don't do that shit:cool:) but very scarcely out there and I can toss a deer over my shoulders and squat that bitch home

You guys are going to make me blush. It seems like it's been longer than just a couple months though.

I've only had moose once, but it was pretty tasty.

Been a big help having you here personally so glad you pulled the trigger.

Moose is great I usually do close to 100-150lb of moose jerky unsalted so that I have a legit ass snack all the time. Unfortunately my freezer only has fish and prawns left in it :( no hunting for me for while yet still to.

Damn wish I had moose out my way that's a lot of meat. Whitetail is the only big game my way unless you count feral hogs. On the plus side we have very liberal bag limits on deer. 3 does a day in certain counties.

It was like a moose summer sausage that I tried. I've got family in Alaska, actually now it's just family of family and I don't think any of the ones there are blood if that makes sense. Anyway, they bring back stuff like that when they go.

We have an abundance of them here, too. I see dozens of them on my way to work every morning. I'm not sure what our limit is, I can't own a firearm, so it's not something I keep track of. Lots of people I know hunt regularly though.

I keep 2 freezers relatively full it's just nice to be able to have that much on hand. No way I could do that with beef I'd be broken after one trip to the store.lol

Think about bow hunting. More challenging and no reason not to be able to own a bow that I know of.

Funny you typed that because I was in the process of posting the same thing about bow hunting. Would save a fortune on meat. We buy several pounds of lean turkey a week at my house.

No way I could afford it any other way...even if you don't get into hunting might be worth getting to know some around you that do. I get more deer offered to me than I can honestly put up or use in a year.

Went bow hunting once I shoot traditional long bow 68lb pull at 28" draw hits just as hard or harder then any compound bow on the market, anyways back to the story we are hunting deer I got about 30 feet away totally hitable for me ready... Aim.... Fucking boom! Basterd of a hunting partner fires off his 7mm Remington and decks that shit standing just a few feet to my blind side was pissed he snagged it from under my feet as a joke so ya no bow hunting anymore cause we are competitive lol

Any of you guys know anything about moose meat ..my brother shot his first moose this year and now lives with me and I have a freezer full of it ???

I ate camel once and my buddy said it tasted like moose. It wasn't bad but..... apples to oranges.

Anyone eat bison? My hometown is FILLED with Bison and holy shit is it amazing.
When I was a kid we would always go to pow wows and get the Indian tacos, it's fry bread with bison meat and other taco ingredients. Amazing. Miss them.

Bison is awesome. Wish I could have it more often than I do, but the part of East coast where I am it isn't very common

I harvest between 5 and 10 deer every season. 5/6 will get me through year eating it 1-2x week. I had it tonight. I process it all my self. I get to control how much fat goes into the grind, etc. Ive got the ratio perfected. Its a fantastic lean protein source.
