Are These People Christians

I am a Christian. I am not religious in the sense that I described earlier. I have a bunch of Christian friendsI read my Bible and I pray. I have never, and will never, own a rosary, go to confession, say a hail Mary, or pray to anyone other than God himself. I dont belong to a Catholic, Episcopalian, Lutheran, Morman, Jewish, or any other organization church. My church has one branch, two services and about 1500 members. All of the teachings are strictly Biblical. We eat donuts before services and are there to help other members out with anything, whether its their relationship with God, trouble at work, or any other issues. From all the various churches Ive been to, I would say that mine ranks right up there as one of the most loving and accepting of people.

My relationship is purely between myself and God, I dont need a priest to intervene or tell me Im going to Hell for something I did. My friends help in my relationship, as Im able to share with them and also learn from them. I pick on the Catholics because I am most familiar with that church. They believe in non-Biblical tradition, I dont.
You sound religious to me Bob...you are just NOT Catholic. You are Protestant...which means you believe in the things that will get you to heaven bro...I was raised Southern baptist but I believe in the teachings of the Bible...guess i would consider myself Non-Denominational.

I see it as being spiritual, not religious. Either way, I consider myself non-denom as well.

Im not really sure what the diff Protestant churches teach. My family is from Norhtern Ireland, so all I know is we bomb those stinkin Catholics to the south. ;)

Basic beliefs of protestant churches is that they believe Jesus to be the Son of God and that he died for our sins....John 3:16 kinda stuff. You pray in Jesus's name not to any other.

Explain the last sentance or two for me, please.

'i realize you were trying to stir things up when you made that comment on two different occasions. and i think you're too smart of a guy to be caught up in the whole religion thing anyway.'

you commented on how christianity focuses on salvation via finding christ. you did it yesterday as well as last year on the old meso. my last sentence is a compliment. i recognize that you make the distinction between religion and spirtituality and are smart enough, imho, choose the latter. am i wrong?

I agree with Bob Smith 110%... there is a big difference between religion and having a relationship with God. I am a Christian and to those that think they are too smart for God, I say: "that at the name of Jesus, very knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Phil. 2:10-11)... now, i would rather put my pride aside me now and follow Christ instead if begging on one knee to be saved from hell on judgement day, which would be in vain anyway... just my personal opinion.

I said that I would post what I thought after a few you posted about this topic. I do not agree with this church at all. It is no wonder at times churches are look down upon. I was vey angry and mad the first time I saw this site. But are they Christians, that I do not know for sure, but I bet Jesus would have something to say to this church!

Well i think the www.godhatesfags is flat out what they say they are a hate group. But the Bible does speak of how God destroyed Sodom and Gomorah "sp" for having such a sexul activity and the city of Sodom is where the term Sodomy got its name from , so its hard not to believe the story is real.

I was raised Christian and still have alot of beliefs that where taught and i also believe that ALL religions are centered around the same thing, the battle of good vs evil. And i also believe that God has given you a penis or vagina for a reason and its not for use on the same sex IMO.

Gays/fags dont bother me as long as they keep there gay opions to themself and it should be that way because you dont see a bunch of hetro's parading down the street chanting pussy power. I cant see what drives a fag to where another man's hairy , sweaty, stinky, shity assshole turns them on. And they want equal rights for such an act  .

Jesus teaches us things like "Do upon others as you would have them do unto you", "love thy neighbor as thyself", "let he who is without sin cast the first stone", etc. So no I don't believe these people to be true Christians. If God were truly working in them, I would think that they would spend more time praying for these people than judging them.
For what it's worth, I used to be one of those people that was too smart and too strong for God. God was something that weak people needed to feel strong, to give purpose to their wretched lives, or so I thought. Then God humbled me. Big time. I'm one of those people that needed a sledgehammer to get the message. I know I have a long way to go in my walk of faith, but at least I am headed in the right direction. And yes I do believe you can find true Spirituality in the Church, you just have to be able to see past the hypocrisy. But my personal relationship to God, through prayer, is what I find most fulfilling.

Ok, that makes it sound better. Thanks for the compliment. :)

Good post armsports....I still think it hard to have spirituality without religion...which I think are what some people are saying they have. I agree some churches and organizations are corrupt....I believe when a Church becomes an organization there are fixing to be problems.

My .02 for what it's worth. I always find it interesting how people who claim to be godly, Christian or what have you, are so quick to condem things such as homosexuality yet seem to have no problem with fornication, adultery, pornography, etc. If they are so holy as to pass judgement at least it should be done equally across the board.

Christians are humans just like everyone else. They make mistakes and do dumb things like non-Christians. Some are outright liars and others just make wrong choices. Its no different than say...a nutritionist who is fat. They KNOW the right thing to do, but dont do it.

As far as the couple things you mentioned, Im pretty even across the board on those.
