Are you ok with Muslim refugees moving in next to you in the US?

Looks like over a 100k are headed here for better or for worse. My question is if a family moves in next door to you would you let their children play with yours? Associate with them? Keep in they are coming in LEGALLY unlike a lot of Mexicans.

I can't believe it took this long for something similar to this topic to come up on here. Unortunately, I have all (read: more than) I can handle on fb, and every other social media outlet. God damn it has gotten ridiculous.

I will just say this. This issue is very complicated.

You say Muslim refugee, but their religion is not the problem. The question is how do you vet someone and safely clear a virtually unknown person? No id, no bank account, no credit history, no medical records, no possible way of checking criminal background, etc etc. These are questions which I do not have the answer to you.. Do you?

My gfs family is Iranian came over here in the 50s after all thaf shit with the Shaw (? ) deffenitly spelt that wrong I have no problem with refugees living near or with me im just curious as what will go into this scanning process and to clear them . Ive seen pictures of how well the scanning process worked for the eu plus my ar would love to coke out and play for once

Yes, and donate food, clothes, etc. I can't imagine what it's like to have a violent religious-based extremist group displace families from their home(land). It's a tragic situation in Syria.

I take no issue with them. It's a terrible situation over there right now.

I've lived in various parts of the middle east. This insular, sensationalist view of Islam that's being shoved down America's throat is just ridiculous. For the most part, these are hard working, well grounded, family oriented people we are talking about. They're a better example of American values than many Americans right now.

Frankly, I would be far happier having my son play with their kids than I would with the hood rats and fundamental Baptists that I currently share a street with. For the most part, they are more tolerant and better educated.

Hate begets hate people. Tread lightly, you are making the bed that your children must lay in. Islam is not the enemy here, fundamental extremism, from every faith, is the problem.

Well said DB ^^^^
Where in the Middle East have yiu lived?

My country's relations with Syria is delicate but even so I would not hesitate to help refugees. They are human beings.

The U.A.E. mostly. Spent a year in Egypt also. Was fortunate enough to bounce around most of the gulf region. Beautiful, but hard living lands and cultures. It's a fascinating region for sure.

I would really like to further explore the western reaches of the middle east. Lebanon and Jordan have some really interesting spots.

Egypt is beautiful. Never been to the UAE though.

I'm Lebanese. I've been to Lebanon several times and you're right, there are definitely sites to see. Jordan was a nice place to visit also. Out of all the places I've been to in the ME, I'd have to say Lebanon and Israel were my favorites.

Islam is the second biggest religious group having about 1.3 billion followers.

The title of the thread implies that all Muslims are terrorists... Gotta love 'Merica.

How does the thread title imply that?

Not to say that a large group of Americans wouldn't imply that. It's certainly a sad, uninformed state of affairs right now. 'Murica, fuck yeah.

Question is: Are you ok with Muslims coming here?

It's a loaded question, implying something is wrong with Muslims. In the media and Fox news America is getting brain washed that they are terrorists and their religion is filled with hate and kill the infidels. That's my interpretation anyway.

Not to mention the follow up:
"My question is if a family moves in next door to you would you let their children play with yours? Associate with them?"

I spent a few years of my ranger life in the rough terrains of Iraq and Afghanistan gladly introducing these extremist bastards to my 5.56 & 7.62 metal....so I may have a bit of a bias here but no I do not want those fucks over here because we have absolutely no way of vetting these individuals...take an iris scan of these ppl, let them blow some shit up, and we know who they are AFTER the fact, no thanks....let them stay in their own country and fight for their country not runaway from it. Extremists are an invisible enemy and that's what makes this global war on terrorism so difficult.

What were you doing in Iraq and Afghanistan? What was the mission if you don't mind me asking? I was living in Europe, no clue on America's involvement there.

Loaded, yeah. I don't necessarily see it as implying that they are all terrorists though. I don't know enough about desibaba to make any assumptions about his thread title meanings. Maybe you do or something.

What's sad, is that it's even a relevant question. Human life is human life. We would be the first to beg amnesty from any country should the tables be turned. There shouldn't need to be a debate as to whether they be welcomed in the first place.

But I like Mexicans too, which apparently makes me some sort of progressive nutjob nowadays. Go figure.

"Mexicans" work their ass off to earn their living here in America. They have my respect for sitting outside home depot from 5am to 7pm hoping that somebody will let them do the jobs that nobody else wants to.

John walker Lindh? Westboro Baptist church?

Extremism knows no set color, race, creed, or territorial boundary. So where do we draw the lines as far as who gets the right to asylum?

These are people who have been forced out of their ancestral homes by the same fundamentalists cocksuckers you and I hate. Sounds like common ground to me.

Closed borders, hate and alienation based on ethnic lines is the antithesis to the war on terror. We are simply fueling the fire, and raising the next generation of Isis with these policies.

Women and children yes. But they need to make the young men and men stay a fight.
We send our sons to go fight for the country , They should too.

We aren't fighting for their country. We are fighting to make money and get a return on our investment in war. War is a capital investment. What the politicans do and say on the news is a distraction from the true ulterior motive and that is GETTING A RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENT.

War is, and always has been, nothing more than an investment

I was involved in Operation Enduring Freedom(OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom(OIF)...as to what my mission was I won't disclose that but you can put the pieces of the puzzle together. I fell under the 75th Ranger Regt who fall under SOC, special operations command, and we deployed to the rough places of these countries...I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

And sworder not to go back and forth with you but your not aware of Americans involvement in the middle east for the past 13 years? I mean anybody would know that whether living in Europe or not cause even Europe was part of the coalition.
