Armour Thyroid - or equivalent T3/T4 substitute - is it all Rx?

I've been recommended to use low dose Armour Thyroid to boost thyroid activity (BMR) to some degree.

Now I see that it's Rx - and I'm in the middle of pulling a startup off the ground, haven't gotten to getting a health care plan yet so no doc for me. I can't seem to find anyone selling this among the usual sources.

It's actually weird that it's Rx - it's essentially a natural product AFAIK - dessicated animal thyroids (guess it would be nasty if it were desiccated human thyroids - ha ha) - but reminds me of Chinese medicine.

Is there any advantage to this "natural" medicine vs T3/T4 pills/liquids? The person recommending it is very much into the organic/whole/natural etc approach - and I'm a good deal more skeptical of those claims.

Anyone using any of the above to good results?

Using synthroid. Same reasons as you. Endo prescribed.

Reading up on these meds, I've seen many comparisons btw Synthroid and Armour - with Armour seemingly being more highly rated by people. Have you tried both?

I need to get this without any endo or insurance involvement.

I personally prefer synthroid over armour. Tried both obviously. Take 50mcg 4xW on wo days and 25mcg 3xw
