A few weeks? Looks like you are correct.

I forgot that an SBR is more likely to be on a Form 1 (buy the pistol, then file the form, then buy the stock and "make" the firearm), instead of a Form 4, assuming you are not purchasing an already existing SBR.
I have seen the ATF deny a Form 1 application without any solid reason, though - and I haven't researched their authority to do so. I know they can't really deny a Form 4.
I'll look into this further. Thanks for sharing that bit of info.
Mine were both approved via e-file fairly quickly. I think the suppressor took longer, but it was the first one I built (hint hint,
there's more
. I have had some get approved in 3 weeks and others get approved in 10 weeks. Usually I would plan for about 12 weeks but hope for 8, assuming you know for certain there is nothing suspicious in your background check that might cause a holdup.
One little nuance is that,
technically you want to wait until your form is approved before you buy all the parts for the silencer/SBR. The ATF
technically can nab you for just having the parts available to make an NFA item, even if it isn't already made. I don't know of any instance where this has happened. It would probably be something they tack on with another criminal charge, but yeah. TECHNICALLY you should get approval, THEN buy the parts and make the item if you want to be 100%, absolutely sure they don't kick down your door and shoot your little Pomeranian puppy that is obviously a huge threat to them
Have you had any issues at all with the Franklin Armory products? I have been considering one for a CZ Scorpion SBR. I thought with a silencer and a very good optic it would be a great weapon for indoor use. I have never shot a Franklin Armory trigger, though. Your thoughts?
I love my Franklin Armory lower! It is well built, looks fresh as fuck, and is pretty much everything you could ask for in a lower receiver. The only issue is that it doesn't shoot plasma beams XD
Nah, but really, the only qualm I have is the difference between the BFSIII binary trigger and the Fostech. The Fostech is a drop in and the BFSIII is not. If you ever take the BFSIII out to clean the trigger group (for a while my AR15 was way overgassed because of a shortage of gas blocks, so it was getting DIRTY as fuck in there), plan to spend about 30-60 minutes getting the thing put back together properly. Overall though I can for sure recommend Franklin Armory.
I have had a couple instances where I have been firing slowly (like slow trigger pull back and forth) where I have had the BFSIII triple-fire. So instead of fire on pull and fire on release, I got a 3 round burst. Confused the hell out of me lol. A few others have reported this, it is just due to the design of the BFSIII triggers. The Fostech (which I also have) does not have this problem at all, however the trigger pull for it is much longer.
Overall, if you are buying one as a drop in, the Fostech is gonna be much easier. If you're buying a complete lower the Franklin armory is 100% legit, I love it.
