I used to do 315 as well until I figured out I hit my lats much better when I did somewhere in the 225 to 275 range. You may well be able to 315 and hit your lats effectively for me it proved more beneficial keeping my ego in check and going a bit lighter.

I agree, I try to use as little body momentum as possible to assist. On the Yates I think it is easier to cheat then on the Pendlay. I may cheat a rep or two at the end of a set when I can no longer complete one with perfect form but that's it. Making sure your contracting your back muscles is more important than throwing on a bunch of plates and performing half assed reps.

I get a kick out of the guys at the gym who are throwing around twice

As much weight as they should and doing half reps. I dont really see that with the row but the squat is pretty popular for that at my gym. Im not the strongest guy by any means but it always seems like these are the guys looking over at you to see if your watching them

I have seen lots of guys do half assed excuses for rows when I used to go public gyms and especially when I lifted with the football team. Lots of terrible form with the high school kids doin too much weight and trying to show off on many exercises. Squat, bench you name it, and I agree many do squats ridiculously bad and with too much weight.

I hate bent over Bb rows. I can't get the form right for the life of me. I've tried trap bar rows on the recommendation of another meso member And like them alot. I just stick to 1 arm dB rows.

You may want to try them in the smith machine. I like them this way too. I like to reset the weight for no more than one second on the lowest pin. Play around with your hand spacing too. From shoulder width to in between shoulder width and the furthest point out and finally as wide as possible.

One other thing I forgot to mention. When doing barbell rows, be it parallel or not, I always change the direction my elbows travel to hit different parts of my back. Some elbow movements require lighter weights, but man it's effective.

I've always done overhand Yates style, elbows tucked and keeping the shoulder blades retracted. I think this week I'll drop the ego and try the pendlay style to see how it hits me.

does this make you tougher than me?

The point for anyone else in using the 25lb plates is not because you can't use more weight. If you use 25lb instead of 45lb plates, you might need to use a few more but you can go lower without bottoming out. The other thing to do is to stand on a stair step or something to keep from bottoming out.

On a smith, I learned to stand on a bench and do them. You can lower the bar all the way down to the bench in that fashion, the best stretch possible, if that is a goal.
