Best HIT Quote Ever

I honestly can't believe I saw someone say this - even though it was BB.com. I guess they have no idea about the history of Jones, Nautilus and HIT and how it turned into a massive sales tool to revamp the entire industry in the 1970s and 1980s.

Classic stuff - like the Romans complaining that the early Christians persecuted them and threw them to the lions. If you live long enough, you get to see everything and this is the day I came full circle.

Thats why H.I.T isn't "popular" it flys in the face of a billion+ dollar a year industry that promotes the exact opposite ideals and beliefs all so they can make that money the truth be damed.

The statement you quoted is a prime example of something which I can never understand. Why is it that so many will adamantly defend or preach their beliefs and practices with regard to training/drugs/nutrition/etc? Is it a lack of confidence in what they are doing, that forces them to convince others that they are correct? Is it simply a need to feel right....power?

Some, but not many simply offer advice, take it or leave it. That's a rare thing that usually sets apart those who know, from those who blindly believe. Sorry to get philosophical on your thread MC2. Work has my mind wondering, and this is where it ended up.

Be as philosophical as you want. There's not much to discuss other and this serves mainly as entertainment simply because of the supreme irony of it all.

What an idiot...perhaps he should know that if HIT were the most common training methodology equipment manufacturers would be in heaven as they then could sell all their overpriced machines to thousands of gyms so that people could do their one set to failure with a 10-10-10 tempo.

Equipment manufactuers don't make nearly as much off free weight equipment as they do machines...when's the last time you saw a company advertising it's ultra cool, $300 squat rack? What about their new, $3,000 machine that simulates DB flyes? Enough said.

Jones used HIT to market Nautilus to commerical gyms and really get the whole machine revolution kicked off. The whole circuit training thing basically caught on right here and gyms and fitness centers stocked themselves full of Nautilus during the craze. It basically killed Olympic Weightlifting in this country and free weights took a massive decline for about 15-20 years - thank God there were steroids to insulate any impact on the physiques of BBers, just up the dosage.

I think it's extremely irresponsible for you to talk that way DUB. Do you want people to STOP using $3000 machines? You want to ruin a 100 billion dollar a year industry? What's going to happen to all those businesses and people who build the really, really, really ridiculously overpriced equipment when no one wants to buy it anymore?

Then there's the magazines. Without all those different machines what will Ronnies new Freaky 4hr Arm Blasting Program be reduced to??? BENT ROWS??? Do you think Flex's new 3 page edition is going to sell?

R.I.P. Really, Really, Really Ridiculously Overpriced Equipment Inc. We hardly knew ye.

Then there is the conundrum...How does one workout without getting dirty. Enter machines....I guess one day I'll get my come uppance. When I develop a disorder due to high levels of iron through supplementation and permeation!

What really amazes me is the honor the machines get from trainers. In commercial gyms anyway. How often do you see someone squatting or deadlifting with a trainer (in a commercial gym)? On the rare occasion that you do it's with lousy form. In my Gold's the trainers have an unnatural affinity for walking lunges (with DB's), swiss balls, and cables. I hardly ever see anyone get put under the bar by a trainer. And these are the people who supposedly know how to train.

Girth: Can you supplement iron through osmosis??

HIT Quotes

I read one just a few weeks ago that was simply amazing also-
"Alot of footbal coaches believe that Olympic lifts and Powerlifter-type lifts are good for football. In fact, these lifts will not improve performance at all".

Probably one of my favorites of all time, a brilliant and well thought out piece of advice.

I hope not, BUT......There could exist a correlation in the fact that those who ride the bench during a game, are also the same ones that the coach is telling, "Get the lead out of your ass!"
