It does fuck with these kids i see it in my family. And its bad, the way they think they have to look 24/7
Yeah my girlfriend has 2 nephews she basically raised from the time they were babies because the 30 year old mom wasn't ready to be a mom and was a single mom and couldn't afford childcare. My girlfriend was 18 and just moved to town and needed a place to stay so her sister said you can live with me if you want my kids during the day...(which also became on weekends because she wanted to go out and drink and dance every weekend lol). But basically she's been there done that with the baby/kid thing and realized that it is actually
mostly just
super stressful and shitty--not beautiful and magical like society pitches to you! lmao...so thankfully her doing that is why we met to begin with AND a big part of why she doesn't want to have kids, which I don't either. So our life goals align because of it. What a crazy world.
Anyway, those babies were so sweet and so nice and funny. Then they grew up. They got into 4th grade or so and got fucking cell phones. Now they're in middle school and high school and they're on instagram and tiktok and watching porn. You lose control of your kids and who they hang out with and what content they consume on social media has a huge impact on who they become in life: what their values are; what they enjoy doing what career they say they want to have. When they would come over all they would do is sit and look at their phones. Every once in a while she could get them talking and have a good conversation. They might play basketball or go outside for like 10 minutes...then they just want to go back on their phones. It's so sad. If you take their phones away they literally get withdrawals.
This is documented shit in medical studies. People get physical and psychological withdrawals when their phones are taken away.
Parents really need to get NetNanny and fucking restrict the hell out of their kids internet activity FROM THE START. If you try to implement it when they're 10 they will have withdrawals and freak out and go nuts on you. They might even kill you. Kids have attempted suicide, they have assaulted and even
KILLED their parents for taking their phones away or taking video games like fornite from them. If you google "kid killed parents for taking away <phone>/<fornite>/<videogames>" and similar stuff you'll find WAY TOO MANY articles about this stuff. I honestly didn't even KNOW that this had happened so many fucking times...it's insane.
We just desperately need to do something as a society to get these kids crack-addict brains off the crack that is social media and out into the world!!! The same goes for food too. You've got babies being fed ice cream and pizza hut. When you make a beautiful, homemade meal, your 5 year old starts CRYING, literally CRYING because his addict-brain wants a fucking taco from taco bell or some bullshit like that. I've seen it happen. It's pathetic, disgusting, and just heartbreaking at the same time.
The fact that people care THAT MUCH about this shit that they are willing to pay hundreds, even thousands of dollars to APPEAR like they have a following and get lots of likes is just disgusting. But that is what society is all about nowadays:
appear popular;
appear influential;
appear rich. Thanks Dale Carnagie.
I've said this before, but it all started back in the 30s when things changed from the
character ethic (actually being a good person and living according to your values) to the
personality ethic (how to appear rich and influential and manipulate people to like to so you can get ahead in life). I personally still live by the character ethic. I despise the personality ethic.
