Bottling homebrew

Hey guys, I have a question about bottling home brew Test. My good friend home brewed small batches for a few of us guys and filled into fliptop sterile vials. We wouldn't get more than 2 10ml each at a time. His reasoning was that once the bottle was punctured by filling the bottle, it was considered open so use asap. Most people I have talked to say the same but I hear other people doing 6 month batches at a time the same way. So my question is, how long would fliptop sterile vials be good for after being filled? BTW this was many years ago for an actual cycle, now it would be for TRT so not pinning large amounts, that's the reason for long term storage. Thanks for the help!

I have used oil that has been in a vial from 3 years ago and didn't have any issues.
You can use the oil for much longer than 6 months.

So he basically punctured the rubber stopper to fill the vial.

The simple solution when you get vials like this is to heat treat them at 135F for 35 minutes without a vent needle. Wipe the top off with alcohol. Then take a thin zip tie 3" long and couple of layers of heavy duty suranwrap and wrap over the rubber stopper and use the zip tie to clamp the plastic wrap around the neck of the vial. This way the vial will be sealed from leaking over time and free from contamination until it's time to use the vial.

Technically if you use an oil like mct or heavily refined oil mig840 you can easily get a 5 year shelf life, might even be able to push it to 10 years if you were in an emergency situation.

I still prefer crimping my own vials, I have never been a fan of presterilized vials as the rubber stoppers on them are hard and tend to get chewed up unless you use a really small draw needle.

I was thinking about crimping my own for long term storage. I'm guessing there isn't much to worry about in the minute the vial is open while filling and capping? I'm sure that's what the BA is there for.

I do all my brews like that with no issues. Use within 6-9 months. If your process is clean the ba should keep the solution clean. I have never had gear longer than stated but i dont see why longer would be a problem. It usually takes several pins before the rubber stopper is compromised for air seal. It isnt til the bottom of a 10ml vial with a 20g draw needle before I notice the seal compromised

I once brewed a batch of npp and just kept it in the beaker with foil on top lol just drew and pinned straight from the beaker, probably not recommended but i was okay

I just started home brewing a few months ago so don't have a long time but have been using the same vile for 3 months. Make it 50 ml at a time. Got one I will be using next blast that was made about 2 months ago. It will be about 4 months old before I touch it. I draw with a 20 gauge but have noticed in the past that 25 gauge does way less damage to the stoppers. Have not tried to draw 2 ml before with a 25g as I did this back when I was on TRT but if your concerned with compromising the top try a smaller gauge needle to draw with. There meant to re seal a little after being pinned. Try taking an extra one that you know is not damaged and pump some air in to it or pull a vacuum and check it a few days later. You will be surprised that they re seal pretty well after being punctured.
