Boxing for Cardio

The title of this thread will probably be misleading...but here goes

I hit a heavy bag and speed bag 3 times a week for some alternative cardio workouts. Youd be absolutely suprised with four to five, 3 minute rounds of all out intensity on the heavy bag will do for your heart rate over time.

My problem is my heavy bag is a piece of shit. Over the years the packing in it has settled to the bottom. Now, the top is very soft but the bottom is rock hard.

For any of you guys who box etc. - you know any easy method i can use to fix this permanently (not doing again every few months), short of buying a new bag?

Strap both ends then up turn the bag :)
It will then settle in the other direction for a few weeks / months till it is annoying again then flip it again. Otherwise take it down and roll it around the floor for a while, that helps.

Cheers,

G.

Thanks - from the ways i've thought of so far that seems to be the best solution

I'll try the rolling first and then the flip-flop. I'm going to have to sew some straps on the other end though - thats gunna be a pain in the ass because i can't sew for shit....

Try hitting the bottom of the bag with a hammer and stand the bag upside down for a couple of days see if that works if not try Gavins method Good luck

Bro go to title boxing & do your hands a favor & buy a water/foam bag they have them in all sizes, cheers.

Machi, I have read that hitting the heavy bag also rips you up. It really helps bring out definition in the arms. keep up the good work. have you considered jumping rope as another alternative for cardio? I try to do it once a week to break up my cardio workouts.

SM - yeah on those days I train pretty much like a boxer.

4-5 3:30 minute rounds on the heavy bag
2-3 4:00 minute rounds on the speed bag
10-15 minutes (sometimes split up) of jump rope
heavy abs (leg lifts, raises, crunches, situps)
1-3 mile run at about 70% max speed - (split time usually 7.5-8 minute mile)

Its a killer workout and really gets me tired. I do it 1-3 times per week depending on how busy I am and how i'm feeling (energy permitting). Sometimes I just run, swim, bike, whatever.

As far as the bag goes i think the most permanent solution is to stich straps on the bottom like what was suggested before and then flip it every so often.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

However.....those water/foam bags are interesting. I might just have to take that route even though i didn't want to get a new bag......
