Brutus79 And Johnnyballz Cycle Log

We ended up doing a standard 12, 10, 8, 6 pyramid program I am not too fond of. I was advised to not do the 5x5 by a buddy of mine pillarofbalance who is on a few other boards and instead recommended a 531 wbb type progressive when I switch to powerlifting.

5/3/1 and Westside Barbell Hybrid program? Definitely a lot more interesting to follow than a standard 5x5 routine. I'm guessing its a 5/3/1 routine with dynamic effort work added. Either way, I would definitely follow that log.

Yessir... I will start it next blast probably mid february/ beginning of march. I was going to keep this one going but I am so fucking busy it's just not possible right now. Yesterday I deadlifted 405 for 5 sets of 5, 4, 3, 3, 3... 18 reps on a weight I could barely pull once a year ago. I fucking love the iron my friends!
 
That is a lot of pulling Brutus. Keep up the deadlift man. I would be toast before i hit set number 3. Now if i was at the peak of being amped up, possibly, but not being enhanced...not so much. In natural stage i can still do a couple of max effort sets below 3, but that is about it. Any more and i take too damn long to recover and bleed into squat day killing it or vice versa.

That's a lot of Deads at a pretty good weight. Good job man keep it up!

How long in between sets?
 
5/3/1 is actually my favorite program, adding accessory work is easy. Do you have particular form of Westside Barbell available to see somewhere or is it personally made? Really not aware on that method at all and possibilities for a hybrid with 5/3/1 are nice to see, I am doing a 5/3/1 but instead of 4 on 3 off, 4 on 1 off. Really hardcore once you get into lifting near max but a lot better and rewarding for me than all bullshit 12 rep feel the burn crap. Heavy compounds for low reps is king.
 
405 will be nice, but so is 385..

My goal was 405 for ever. I hit it 1-1/2 ago .never thought possible , im to small so I thought ,but i was flirting with it for a while .one day im warming up with 225, normaly for about 18-22 depends on the day.anyway I pushed about 28 out .BTW warm up meaning getting started.I do pushups a few quick sets then get down.so I call my boy to spot me cuz there's only a couple chicks there, told him by the time he gets there I should be ready.he walks in I got 8 plates on the bar & he says wtf am I gona do I'm like if I struggle guide me but i feel good.I banged out 1 good 1 & 1 need help at the last min 1...NEVER AGAIN.I felt my upper arm wanting to snap and a bunch of possible injuries.& said OK I did it never again...

I wanted to see if I could get 300lb I had max at my last house,
and it took me about 3 weeks.. 30 reps benching a week...

That was at 180lbs..
Maybe 190 to get 350.. maybe not
