Any tips from former leg day haters who have grown to love it?
(1) You'll make incredible gains everywhere. Squats and deads made my arms grow more than years of isolation exercises. Plus ab development far superior to dedicated ab work.
(2) You get to lift heavy stuff - I mean really heavy stuff. It just doesn't compare to anything else. It's kinda cool to come home from the gym and reflect on the 20,000+ pounds you just lifted. If you can get excited about arm day but not about this, I don't know what to tell you.
I am in same exact boat, honestly though getting on a cycle is giving me a lot of motivation to train legs harder than ever.
In the past I will admit I neglected legs. Reason being my calves and legs have always been genetically big. Anytime I trained legs I would not be able to fit in nice fitting jeans. So I stopped training legs for hypertrophy or weeks where I just wouldn't even train them at all.
But its 2016, and legs is up there in my priority list. Just wished I never slowed down in training them, its really embarrassing seeing young skinny kids squat more than me.
I haven't trained legs in 3 weeks maybe 4 now? They are easily as dense and muscular as they were a month ago. Not that I plan to continue this trend but I got some issues I'm trying to sort outGreat thing about squats is results are quick and long lasting . Once you build them its easy to maintain them . I can do squats once every 10 days and they stay near the same size/density . I started training legs seriously, late in life , but I made quick progress and they dont look out of place , although my upper body is farther ahead .
I get caught in the same trap. I will never have chicken legs, so it's easy to get lazy with them.I am in same exact boat, honestly though getting on a cycle is giving me a lot of motivation to train legs harder than ever.

Oh another reason I hated squats...my hips would shift to one side which looked abnormal. Hated it and could never figure it out. Anytime I would add heavy weight on the bar I would start shifting to one side going up.
So now I stick to Leg Press...

Did you just call me a powerlifterI get caught in the same trap. I will never have chicken legs, so it's easy to get lazy with them.
Taking a strength oriented approach makes them way more rewarding to train for me.
Hang out here, TEK, trukker, OGH and all the power lifters will have you feeling like a pussy in no time, lol. No better motivation out there.
Hips shift to the side on the eccentric? Is it painful at all?
I have a friend who has this same issue and it's debilitating him. He couldn't do a full meet in December bc of it. He ended up doing a push/pull. We're working on fixing this but it's a disc/spinal issue as well and will take time. It's better to address the issue than avoid it.
Happens on the concentric movement. No pain at all.
Did you just call me a powerlifter![]()
