Cardio = Strength?

Thought I would share something that recently surprised me....

So, I was a lazy fuck for a while and I used to skip cardio completely. About a year ago I dedicated myself to getting into.much better cardiovascular condition.

So....running, ellipticals, ski machine, stairclimbers, bikes.... I usually do some mix of a couple of these 3 to 4 times a week. I will often turn the resistance up quite high if it is a machine that permits it.

And as a result I'm in much better cardiovascular shape. Predictably. What I did not expect was my calves to.grow and become much more defined as well as more definition in my legs in general. (without much change in BF) I set a PR for reps on my squats yesterday day. (10 to 12 weeks out from a cycle during a cruise. I make progress during my cruises but usually with squat dead or bench I can't match those numbers).
I'm surprised.

Maybe I'm sorta dumb for not expecting this. If I thought I was gonna make strength progress from cardio exercises I wouldve started a long fucking time ago. I always thought cardio was just to improve health or lose fat.

Does this add up to you guys? Should I look elsewhere for why I am making strength gains with legs? Is it the result of using a lot of resistance on machines?

Your cardio vascular system controls the blood/oxygen to your muscles. If you have a better developed cardio system then your body can pump more oxygen to your muscles and allow you to lift more. I forget the percentages of aerobic/ anaerobic for most weight lifting but there is still some capacity where the aerobic system is used in lifting weights. Also in between sets it's 100% aerobic in your rests, the better cardio you have the more oxygen you get to muscles and the more co2 and lactic acid you remove from the muscles so you can hit the next set harder than you normally would with shit cardio.

It's not magic but it certainly will help, especially if your cardio was complete shit to begin with.

absolutly. I have noticed this too recently and a friend of mine. I used to skip and since doing it I have improved in every aspect, strength, size, lung function, and mental health.

Get a Rucksack with 50-70 pounds. Start rucking for distance, keep a 13-15 minute Mile. Finish 30 miles, and see how your lower body muscles and your core are defined...
Cardio is great for the muscles, type 1-2 fibers. Greatly unappreciated in this day and age though...

Yeah, I was on a cut doing 15mi bike rides(fast) everyday. I went straight into German Volume training and am breezing through this shit! I'm actually on tren and still not running out of breath!

The last tren cycle I ran really stressed my need for increased cardio.

Also BP is down from consistent cardio.
115/80. Even when I was a kid I consistently was 120/80. It's not much but it's not a one off reading. I'm getting consistently better BP readings.
