Chicago-area chiropractor charged with illegally selling steroids

CHICAGO — A suburban chiropractor has been charged with illegally possessing and distributing anabolic steroids he illegally imported from China.
These charges resulted from an investigation conducted by the following agencies: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the North Carolina sheriff’s offices of New Hanover and Brunswick counties.
Gregory Zimmerman, 43, of Oswego, Illinois, was charged with possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance in a criminal complaint that was filed Feb. 4 in federal court and unsealed Tuesday. Zimmerman, a licensed chiropractor, self-surrendered to authorities Feb. 9 and was released on a $25,000 bond.
It is alleged that Zimmerman was illegally importing steroid powders from China, then manufacturing and distributing the steroids to customers locally and throughout the United States. The complaint details instances in which a confidential informant, who was working with law enforcement, received shipments of bulk steroid powder from China on Zimmerman’s behalf. Zimmerman allegedly converted the powder into injectable liquid steroids or oral capsules that he distributed to clients. On at least one occasion Zimmerman had several two-liter bottles filled with liquid steroid at his residence, the complaint alleges.
During a consensual search at Zimmerman’s residence Jan. 30, HSI special agents encountered a room that appeared to be used as a steroid manufacturing laboratory. In Zimmerman’s possession, agents recovered quantities of suspected anabolic steroids in both liquid and powder form, quantities of suspected Human Growth Hormone (HGH), quantities of other substances that are being tested, as well as steroid packaging materials.
"The illicit production and sale of steroids poses a serious public health threat," said Gary Hartwig, special agent in charge for HSI Chicago. "HSI and its law enforcement partners are committed to pursuing those who use legitimate shipping channels to smuggle drugs into the United States."
HGH and anabolic steroids are frequently used by athletes and body builders for unapproved purposes, such as enhancing performance and building muscle mass. These drugs can present serious health risks when not properly administered under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kartik K. Raman, Northern District of Illinois, is prosecuting this case.
The public is reminded that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

He's going to get off. Or plea bargain this shit down to a misdemeanor. They say it was "consensual", all that means is he let them into his home. He may or may not have "consented" to the search.

I've had this shit happen to me before, it won't hold up in court

Oh yes...Don't forget this!:D

Lets go to college for several years to become a Dr, then sell petty fucking steroid vials and ruin our life.....yea, he is dumber than hell

Yes, your right brutus. Not a medical doctor. Can't prescribe drugs. The fed. prisons are full of them for one reason or another.
Well maybe not FULL, but quite a few seem to find themselves there.

I wonder if he had a JFK remailer.

Chicago customs is meticulous when it comes to a kilo of powder. I wonder what they did to that kg of deca powder they confiscated all those years ago.

theres doctors but not medical doctors i think . i know its not anywwhere like MD school . dont think they can write scripts

A Chiropractor is a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) just like a Dentist is a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or a Nurse Practitioner is a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

For all I know the cops most likely took some for their own use ;)

Phil: "Doctor Price? Stu, you're a dentist. Don't try and get fancy." Stu: "It's not fancy if it's true." Phil: "He's a dentist, don't get too excited. And if someone has a heart attack you should still call 911."

Chiros are people too stupid to make it to traditional medical schools, but still won't to be in the wont the title of doctor. Just like acupuncturists and naturopathic "doctors."

Dude wasn't making enough to stay in the middle class and had to hustle on the side.

The guy in NC was a customer being supplied by the Chicago chiropractor. It sounds likes the chiro was the UGL. The NC guy snitched on him.

New Hanover and Brunswick County sheriff's deputies arrested a man in late 2013 on steroid possession charges. The man revealed that his supply had been mailed from Chicago, said Lt. Jerry Brewer, spokesman for the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office.

Brewer said New Hanover and Brunswick officials then worked with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents, who charged Gregory L. Zimmerman with numerous charges related to the distribution of anabolic steroids. Zimmerman surrendered Feb. 9 and was released on $25,000 bond.

He was apparently highly involved in the NPC competitive bodybuilding scene according to his website:

Dr. Zimmerman has been actively involved with competitive sports both personally and professionally. He played football from little league to college, has been involved with wrestling, baseball, and track and field. Dr. Zimmerman currently is a competitive bodybuilder and has competed in both state and national level contests. He won the men's open heavyweight class and most muscular award at the 2011 Midwest Ironman Bodybuilding Contest. He placed 15th/25 in the men's heavyweight class at the 2012 Master Nationals, which was a pro-qualifier. Dr. Zimmerman has worked with athlete's of all status from weekend warrior, to little leaguer, to state champion, to professional. Being in the heart of the running and cycling area, Dr Zimmerman has worked with numerous runners from the occasional weekend runner to 5k, half marathon, and marathon runners. He has also worked with tri-athletes at the sprint, intermediate, and ironman levels.

An NC snitch that got his stuff through JFK. Reinforces my experience about the other ports. Once in a while they catch stuff through random luck, but you're best chance from a foreign source is if the goods arrive at JFK. The Chinese try to send everything shady (according to scumbag politicians) through there for a reason.
