Hey Meso,
I have a family member that just succeeded in defeating Stage 4 Lung Cancer that had spread to multiple areas of her body. Without getting into the amazing story of her battle and all that was involved, I will get right to the point of the post: she now has some very severe Adrenal Insufficiency due to all of the corticosteroids she used during her cancer treatment. In fact, the docs have told her now that she CAN'T stop the corticosteroids, or she will die. In the meantime, she is suffering from severe bloating from the corticosteroids (Cushings Syndrome) and her constant use has caused her adrenal insufficiency. It's one of these typical medical catch-22's: keep taking the steroids and die OR stop taking the steroids and die. Great choices.
She has tried to "wean" off slowly of the corticosteroids but always when she gets below a certain threshhold, she gets very sick. The weaning has been inneffective at getting her adrenals to start working again, too.
The endocrinologist doesn't seem to have any answers as far as getting her adrenals "jumpstarted" so I thought I would pose the question to Meso. Any ideas, pharma or otherwise?
@Type-IIx I know you have posted many times on the topic so I thought I would specifically include you just in case.
