Cowboy's Switch the Darkside

Well wouldnt ya know it I am getting a flu or a cold.... fml. To top it of I got to go forna medical next week and dont want to be sick for it.

Anyway enough whining lol.

Found this for a 4 day version of TM. I am just needing to figure the numbers for me and increase weight every week. Do I increas ethe 5x5 and use that for my next 1x5 or other way around?Screenshot_20191017-163526_Drive.jpg

Trying to understand a rep max so let's see if I have this right. For argument sake using above program.
If my current 1 rep max on deadlift is 405x1 but in my training I do 365x5 that Calculated to a 422 1rm and base next week of it?
I think 3rm is pretty damn accurate. But it has to be a 3 rm at RPE 9-10 if you were following that scale.

Not sure what it is, that cold is going around the power lifting forum. Maybe I everybody sick, lol

The Texas method is great for improving the squat but lacks volume for deadlifts and frequency for bench. That’s why everyone knocks it. Probably be good to bring up squats then switch to something else. I’ve never used it. Are you just gettin ideas from that @Btcowboy

No not necessarily, I like the MTTF -BSBD split just for some dumb ass reason having trouble getting the numbers right especially the weekly weight increase. Maybe too much on the go and missing it lol.

Those are my biggest problems with it as well. That template he's got has almost equal volume for all three though. Recovery between the squat and deadlift is my concern with this one. I ran that one natty and couldn't recover, but I think he can at least for awhile not being natty. Like you were saying a couple months is gonna be the shelf life of something like this. Weekly progression though.

I actually had okay results from the regular Texas Method template by adding volume deadlift to the first day and not rotating overhead press and just doing all bench. Otherwise the deadlift and bench is trash. I don't see how anyone could progress on them.

I hoping this is getting closer..... this is the Texas Method 4 day program. I intend to run it until I quit progressing or can't recover.

I have it set to calculate a new 1RM after each 1x5 intensity session. Then the following week will be 90% of the new 1RM for a heavier 1x5 session.

Hopefully I am finally getting this figured out lol

I'd just add 5-10lbs a week to your intensity day. Add weight to your 5x5 as needed. Progress the 1x5 as long as you can and when you start to stall make it 1x3 and even 1x2. Then if you stall again start a rotation of 1x5 one week, then 1x3, then add weight and repeat.

sounds like most of the Russian programs. Simple and effective until they arent. Then start over with a new 5 RM, I just dont think somebody can stay on that 5x5, 4x4,3x3,2x2, 3x1, max/meet stuff for ever. I know I cant.
Theres a guy at my gym thats an elite 74kg guy that pretty much just runs stuff like that in cycles and keeps making progress. Its mind boggling

That's the difference between us and those with elite genetics unfortunately.

Thinking it's a start 531 was ok never really gave it a chance either though. I am gonna run with that for now see what happens... PL so new to me it's all trial and error.

That’s 120lbs minimum. That’s insane.
Ha I was just thinking that, bench would be almost 350, squat would be over 500, dead would be over 500. I would be stoked but unlikely. I will just keeping add8ng when I can no longer add weight will change it up

It’s not unheard of for a novice, but extremely rare for anyone with any numbers. My first 6 months lifting I got to 225 bench, 405 squat / DL and then my progress plummeted lol. Admittedly, tho, I didn’t follow any programs and my diet was trash back then. Makes a huge difference I guess.
