I think the late payment stay on for 3 years, did you pay them already? if yes who is it then write them a letter telling them you are disputing there late payment, they have 30 days to give you a response, then at the same time write to all 3 credit agencys and tell them its false and you would like for it to be removed from your report. they also have 30 upon getting letter to resolve the issue otherwise its removed, its easy bro, most places dont want to fart around with the credit agencies so they wont respond to them, I think you can do it on line now, check search engine for creditagencies, equifax, transunion, experian

nope, but if it wasn't in the last 12 months, you should be fine. the only time that really affects your credit is if it is already banged up. This means that you don't have that many trade lines open. open another credit card or 2 and that should balance out the late.

ramboj70, I've heard of doing this before but thought it was bullshit, if it really does work I'll try it tomorrow

it's bullshit. what are you trying to buy???? because, you would only know about it if you have been turned down.

ive seen late payments without trying to buy anything, got a free credit report online, didnt get capital one thier payment exatly on time a couple times and they reported, dicks, amex has never reported me, love um, use my amex everytime i can now

Check out any of the 3 credit agencies online. I know that Experian and Equifax will give you a copy of your credit history/score for free (if you cancel during hte first 30 days). I did that and am using that info today for when I go get pre-approved for a mortgage.

If you dont mind me asking, what is your credit score?

wow that sucks, getting reoprted after only 30 days. that's an honest mistake, AMEX makes it a point not to report until at least the 60th day, not sure about the rest. I had one bad mark as well from back in college when my bank account gave me a credit line of something stupid like $250. In time it was removed and my score, depending on which of the big 3 reports, is now 776, one of the 3 reprts it at 745. As stupid as i was in college i'm surprised I didn't mess up my credit, evidently in my weed induced fog I was pretty vigilant about paying my bills lol :D

Everyone can get 1 free credit report every year. Like rambo and bs said, go to the transunion, equifax or experion websites and you can contest a mark and/or obtain a free report for the year. don't pull it more than once either, too many inquiries into your credit is not good either..

Personal inquiries, like we are talking about, wont really affect yoru credit score at all. But if you are having it pulled 3, 4, 5 times by mortgage brokers, banks, etc, then it will reflect poorly.

I had a 30 day late notice on one of my reports (showed up fine from the other company) and disputed it. Two weeks later (yesterday) I got a notice in the mail saying that i was correct and that the mark would be corrected.

Crew, nice scores.

thanks bro the scores help a lot when refinancing. correct me if i'm wrong but i believe inquiries come in 2 flavors: hard inquiries and soft inquiries. i believe the inquiry type you want to avoid in frequency is the hard one, which is a detailed analysis of an individual's entire credit history, for example like bs mentioned, the type of inquiry done by a mortgage broker when approving a mortgage application.

If the individual pulls his or her own credit that is deemed a soft inquiry(will not hurt your score)

What hurts your score is a hard inquiry(like applying for credit, car loan, mortgage, etc.) These will fukk yo credit up.

My credit score went from 675 to 601 after 1 30 day late.

I went to all the credit bureau websites and have disputed this bullshit. Once you dispute they can't mark "late payment on your credit report"

Absolutely true....Just be sure to contact all credit agencys with as much info (account# and company name which you are disputing , SSN,etc.) and do this via registered mail with signed receipt requested.( This associates a name with the reporting agency and holds them accountable). Also be sure to send them a copy of your request/dispute and keep the originals for your records as well as all post office receipts. Do not be surprised if dispute dissapears within 60 days on your credit history. If it is a legitimate debt the account will likely be sold or reopened by the original holder of account within 3-12 months so be prepared for that. Good luck......

I used these people: http://www.lexingtonlaw.com/Home.php?tid=164.0.1. They really cleaned up my credit.

Kind of pricey though but worth it if you have a lot of marks on your creidt report.

I had one of my ex girls frends use Lexingtonlaw.com and they did wonders for her credit. If I remember right it was 75.00 up front and 35.00 a month, They took her from high 400's score to mid 600's in a year. Good people and no contract to sign!!!!!!!

wow that serivce looks awsome, dont have the money right now, but its in my favorites, gonna defintly use them, thx

That service does look pretty good, but keep in mind with a little hard work YOU can do the same thing yourself. It is time consuming and I personally would rather pay someone and not worry about it, but for those that can't afford to, it can be done on your own.
It sometimes takes months and if you've changed addresses recently it will take even longer. My buddy does this for a living (CrediClear Financial) and I've seen him work miracles. He actually got a 1.6 million dollar bankruptcy completely wiped off of this doctors credit reports. He has told me that alot of collection agencies are being more dilligent in making sure they prove your debt to the bureaus in less than 30 days. I guess every case will be different.

And crew, if your a 753 then even 1 30 day late isn't going to effect anything. Creditors go off of Tiers, ie Tier 1,2,3,4

Anything over 700 is generally considered Tier 1 and is A+ credit.

Best of luck to everyone trying, I know I fucked mine up while I was in the Army and now still pay out the ass with higher rates on some things.
