Cyst? Abscess?

A friend of mine is in the middle of a cycle and he has devloped a "golf sized lump" under his arm. He said its painful. It is not near the injection site at all. I have never heard of this. I was thinking it was gyno starting to develop or is it a cyst, abscess, or what? Can anyone give me any ideas on what he can do to get rid of it? He has no health insurance so he wanted to know what he could do to help it go away. Thank you for any input.

Is it an older injection site? Basically it really doesn't matter, at this point it's a new unexplained observation on his arm that has developed pain with it.
At this point it's better not to play guessing games and go get it checked by a physician, before it becomes something much worse.
Tell him to be smart and just go.

sounds like an abscess that wasn't tended to early enough. I had one in my right tricep, for 2 days, went to a doc, they shot me full of antibiotics and it went away on its own. If he doesn't have med. insurance it's going to be VERY expensive, about 750 dollars just to get what i had done.

I AM NOT SUGGESTING TO TREAT IT ON YOUR OWN, AND TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHA THAPPENS TO YOU IF YOU DO.

BUT HERE'S A METHOD

-use a clean aprox 24g needle and gently stick it into the site.
-pull back on the plunger, and see what you pull into the syringe.
-if it's red+brown+white gunky mix or any combo thereof, that's an infection.
-with another needle, possibly even 2 or 3, drain the site COMPLETELY, i mean completely, til you get nothing in that needle.
-somehow get antibiotics, STRONG ones at that... like vancomyacin or other last resort types.(only suggesting such strong ones, because it's been awhile, and it's hard to kill the infection w/o surgery and an IV overdose)
-run it under cold water for days, and constantly massage it, also keep draining it every day/every other day if it continues to fill.

Like i said, I don't suggest doing this, but this was the method i used to kill my first abscess, because I was an idiot and didn't go to the doctor. It did work, BUT, i have a permanent knot in my arm so i suggest the doc ASAP

Thanks for the replies. He only injectes into his glutes. Never anywhere else. What could cause something to pop up underneath his arm? It has been there less then a week. He did go to the docs and they said it looks like a cyst but they wanted a grand just to drain it. Any more ideas.

Now, there are a type of cysts called subascious cysts, that usually pop up anywhere from the head to the chest area, and in the groin area(ouch). There are no clear reason for them, they just pop up. I had one on the back of my neck, which got infected. I lanced it myself, and it filled back up. I then put an icepack on it, then cut it open and pulled out the shell of it(which was stupid on my part), which is white and rubbery. And, I took a lot of antibiotics. But, I must have missed what they call 'the roots', because it grew back. I even had a doctor cut it out, but it is back again. It is about the circumfrence of a dime. They say they won't hurt you if you just let them there. I'll probably not have it cut out again, unless it gets infected again, since they did a biopsy on it the first time and it was benign.

If your friends is infected I would suggest getting the doctor to take it out, no matter what it costs, as I was stupid to try to do mine myself. Infections are nothing to fool around with. Staph infections can travel to other parts of your body and hide, then if your system gets weakened for some reason, can flair up. And, keep repeating this cycle, usually getting worse each time. And, there are not enough strong, effective antibiotics left to treat these kinds of infections. Most people would be shocked if they knew how many, seemingly healthy, people die each year from forms of staph infections that do not respond to the available antibiotics. I know, as I have been dealing with reoccuring bouts of one of the worst forms of staph infection, known as MRSA, for the past 3 years.

Its a swollen Lymph node,,,This can be caused by many things,,,Primarily infection,,,Best be off to a doc as it can be some very serious diseases inculding cancer or Aids,,,VDC

Thank you for all the replies. This has happened to him before in his neck last cycle. Maybe he has something esle going on and the ASS is weaking his inmune system. That's why these pop up during his cycles. I am very happy for all your help as he is very worried. thanks again bro's. :)

Yea,,,someone carried on a few months ago about aas suppressing the immune system,,,Still when the lymph glands swell it means theres a lot of white blood cells in the system,,,Indicating an infection,,,Tell him to press down on te area around his adam's apple,,,Does this hurt???Other lymph nodes are behind the knees, inside the upper thighs, and the sides of the neck,,,Also his worrying will further suppress the immune system and cause cortisol to be released,,,And BBers don't want that,,,He really should get checked out,,,VDC
