i fucked up and configured for text login, i cant do shit with a command line....how the hell can i start gnome...also how can i reconfigure it without goin thru installation again damn...oh yeah its red hat 8.0

I'm about a week away from building a svelt linux box......I've been away from it since redhat 6. I have the original redhat 2.1 which was before they started using RPMS and all that. Its come a long way. Also, if you are a unix freak .....Sun is selling workstations with solaris at a pretty affordable number. I remember back 8 years ago when I nearly sold my left nut to get a SparcStation....nowadays, $ 1300 will get you something that is about as fast as the typical intel PC....and buying used, you could score a full on Sparcstation for $ 3-4K
Any unix-type operating system rocks....Microsoft is just really convenient and simple.
yep startx works....im new to linux, absolutely clueless about unix, but i just like it cause it seems alot more powerful than windows .....and its free too
