The 33-year-old LA Galaxy player, who is spending three months with the Italian side during the MLS off season, was required to provide a urine sample after playing for 89 minutes on his Serie A debut which ended 2-2.

According to the Daily Mail Beckham was unable to fill the jar and so drank a beer to help things along.

An AC Milan spokesman said: "David really enjoyed the match and was pleased with the way it went. Afterwards in the changing rooms his name was drawn as the Milan player for the drugs test.

"He was given a sample jar but couldn't fill it - in the end we had to get him a beer to help him go so you can imagine he was the source of a few jokes in the dressing room."

Once the deed was done, the jar was handed over to a medical team who will now analyse the sample.
