Dea Agent Shoots Self

well its a good thing that he's a "proffesional". yes, accidental discharges do happen. but considering that he's a fed, and with all the training they go through, i'm glad that they're atleast investigating it. meanwhile, your average joe shmoe cant get a CCW.

have a nice day

CCW isn't a problem in my neck of the woods Joe. And there even recognized in the adjoining states.

I'm getting ready to go look at a colt 1911 :) The guy claims it's had less than one box of rounds ran through it...if it's in that kind of shape I'll probably end up buying the thing today :D

I'm negotiating with a friend for a Kimber TLE that has maybe 150 rounds through it. I loves me a 1911

a 1911 is a helluva gun! I think you should go for the Kimber !

Have you ever shot a desert Eagle .50 cal?

I was looking at one (again) at a local gun store here, but I just can't justify spending $1,500 on it... I also looked at a Bulgarian preban Ak-47 (same price range) but The Russian VEPR (.308) is another rifle that has my interest!

I have too many expensive hobbies !!!

Phreezer, if anyway possible the Kimber will be my next adopted child. A Desert Eagle is fun to shoot (I love big bores) but not worth the money to me. Look around though you can pick up used for 900.00. I've got a Romanian postban with the necessary domestic parts to play with. Here's hoping the assault weapons ban dies in September.
BTW the VEPR is a quality rifle

i'm definately a 1911 man!! i learned on a combat commander. loved 'em ever since.

phreezer, my buddy has a .50 DE. while it definately has a cool factor(my loaded 230 gr .45 cal drops right through his barrel...with room to spare :)), it itsnt too pleasant to shoot. i'm no pussy, but i just dont want to shoot more than a mag full through it. i think your money could be spent more wisely....like 2 1911's.

have a nice day

Did anyone catch this quote?

"Everyone was pretty shaken up," Farmer said. "But the point of gun safety hit home. Unfortunately, the agent had to get shot. But after seeing that, my nephew doesn't want to have anything to do with guns."

Umm...so the definition of good gun safety is to scare children into wanting to have nothing to do with guns?

The safest gun users I know are those that have been around guns their entire lives. The unsafe people are those that "want nothing to do with them."

Dont worry lady. When you nephew grows up to be a gang-banger we can just blame it in the guns and not HIS BEHAVIOR. Guns are the only in-animate objects that I can think of that are commiting murders

230 gr huh? You load your own then?

I just want to shoot one, I doubt I'll ever actually buy one... But you're right about the 1911... What a sweet gun... I've got the gun now, The guy told me to keep it for a week and shoot it a few times and see what I think... Well, I'm still impressed with it, I doubt that I'll pass this gun up.

hows the accuracy on the 1911? I've heard stories about not bein able to hit the broad side of a barn with it, but that didn't seem likely to me.

phreezer...230gr FMJ. regular good old fashioned military ball ammo. but yes, i do load my own also. i also had a smith .357, a smith 9mm, and a smith .38 snub. hardly ever shot them, so i got rid of them and got me a brand spanking new kimber. kimbers the best value for the money IMO. try a DE .50...shoot a mag full, and i think you'll have enough of it :). even with your size.

busta, that might have been the case years and years ago, but now-a-days they can hold there own against anything out there. i had some wal-mart bought 230gr FML's by USA, gave my kimber to a buddy and let him shoot. he hit 8 out 8 cans at various distances. never shot the gun before.

i think the problem with accuracy in the past might have been to inferior ammo and loose fitting parts. with todays technology, accuracy wont be a problem.

nice gun MK. jamming? thats odd. what ammo are you using? did that model come with the feed ramp throated and polished? if not, get it done. what kind of jams? failure to feed or to extract?

Exactly..What kind of jams?

Is the shell not ejecting right? Does it come back in your face or something? I had A glock 10mm that would kick shells right in your face, and it loved to jam.

No, not shell ejection, but instead when the round is being chambered. This is due to the fact that I use semi-wadcutters when I target shoot.

Because of this, my dad used my Beretta Model 92 for his concealed license test instead of the 1911. He got a perfect 200 score at his test. He was the only one that did when he was there.

My dad actually just got a new gun. He got an authentic antique Sharps blackpowder rifle. He paid a ton for it, but he loves it. The next gun I want to buy (in several years) is an HK USP. I am also going to buy a cheap Ruger 10/22 and put a bunch of cool Modifications on it and make it a target .22 You cant beat an afternoon with a .22 That is just good times!

When I graduate school, we should have a Meso Hunting Trip on my deer lease here in Texas. TONS of deer in the hill country and more hogs than you can shake a stick at! Also, there is a ton of varmint (rabbits, coyotes, armadillo, raccoons, etc.)

well a semi wadcutter isnt the best load for a 1911 because the feed ramp is separate from the barrel. have you brought it to a gunsmith? maybe it just needs some porting or polishing.

the HK USP is a nice gun...but a large gun. and since it bears the name HK, that makes it a pricey gun. but a great gun non-the-less. but since i learned on a single action 1911, i got spoiled really quickly to that nice 4 lb trigger pull. even though i'm comfortable, and accurate, with a double action trigger, i feel "at home" with a single action 1911. ol John Browning designed it just right!!

have a nice day

hogs?? my .45 long colt vaquero would do nicely on them thar hoggs. 300 grainer coming out at 1200 and change. its got "umph", that for sure. thats why i'm bringing it with me on my trip out west...as a back up to my 45-70.

have a nice day
