DFT Question

Hey guys, new to this forum, ancient in others. I got a few questions.

-The old routine that had a ton of volume. Is that one no good? I see two different ones.

-If the new DFHT is the one to use, do I always change the rep scheme like in the old spreadsheet has? To clearify, I have a spreadsheet made that has the 8 week periodization schedule. It starts out with low inclines, closegrip, board press, ect. The new one is the DHFT revisited I gather. So...Do I follow the spreadsheet layout with the new exercises from the revisited or what?

A little about me. I've been lifting for 8 years and definately meet the criteria for the program..ie squat twice my bodyweight ect. I'm 246 @ 18% and dropping. I'm just searching for a new program to try. Thanks to all for your time. ;)

From what I gather the volume was decreased for the Core article to make it more tolerable to more BBers (who for the past 15 years have been trending to low frequency which tends to lower workload significantly). It's not as if the first was bad, it just is A LOT more than most are used to handling. So, I'd probably use your judgement and past experience. If someone is coming from a Mentzeresque HIT world- they shouldn't try the higher volume one, they'll probably kill themselves and wind up with all sorts of nagging overuse injuries.

Thanks for the reply! So it's a cross between new and old (I'm used to high volume) but are the specifics the same as the spreadsheet in regards to reps/sets from day to day or are the reps as is until the deloading week? What I mean is, the new one has barbell bench press for 4 x 10, whereas the spreadsheet is 3 x 5. Does it matter or just go with whatever (4x10,2x8, ect) and load the crap out of my muscles however that may be. :D

Well I haven't really done an in depth review of the Core magazine writeup and the word doc so I can't help you there. If you are accustomed to a decent amount of volume and have a high tolerance for workload (at least in comparision to most BBers running around - I'm assuming you are a BBer or general fitness and not PL/OL/Athletics which might be inaccurate) just go with what you have. Plenty of people have run it and done very well on it. A lot of guys on this forum I believe have pretty much moved back and forth between DFHT and the periodized 5x5 layout just alternating.
