I just feel better. My "3-piece set" feels much better.

Keep in mind that my DHT has been low-normal for about 4 years prior to this new trial.

Yes, 0.2 ml of 1% compounded cream, which is 1.6 mg of DHT, per day.

Will do.

DavidZ,

For the benefit of getting a better idea of "feel better", would you please rate how you felt before the DHT and after the DHT on a scale of 1-10.

Also, have you noticed since starting the DHT whether it has lowered your E2 at all? I believe that DHT does lower E2.

From about 6 to about 7 or 8.

No.

I've gotten partial results from my 5/31/05 blood draw. T and E2 are about the same as before DHT (T is about 650 and E2 is about 38).

The really good news for me is that my HbA1C dropped below 6.0% for the first time since February 2003 (I'm T2 diabetic). My main reason for starting back on DHT was that, in reviewing my historical blood test results (I have a speadsheet summarizing over 6 years of test results), I noticed that my HbA1C dropped to about 5.8% (< 6.0% is normal for a nondiabetic!) when I was on DHT in 2001. So this is great news for me and confirms what I suspected might happen. My HbA1C had been slowly climbing over the last year or so to about 6.5%.

The only result I'm still awaiting from my 5/31/05 draw is DHT. That one always reports out last.

Thats great news David!!

Let us know how your DHT numbers turn out. Perhaps you will have some room to up the DHT and improve the HbA1C even more.

Thanks. It's particularly good news for me since my HbA1C was 11.1% at diagnosis in April 1999 and I control my blood sugar with diet and exercise alone (no diabetes medication). It just shows how complicated and interrelated these hormones are.

I don't think it works that way. A higher dose didn't lower my HbA1C below 5.8% four years ago and I don't suspect that it would do so today either. Also, I feel really good at this very low dosage and I don't feel as good at a higher dosage. My experience with HRT tells me that there's an optimum range for each hormone. It's not a matter of more is better, but rather trying to hit the right number. Too little is not good, but too much is usually as bad or worse.

Got my DHT result back. It was 46 (25 - 75) which is a bit lower than I expected (I expected about 55 to 60) but still significantly higher than before starting DHT cream (about 35).

I'm very pleased with it. I don't recommend it (or not recommend it) for anyone else, but it seems to be very good for me at this time.

I'm pleased to report that my 8-month usage of very low dose DHT cream is a resounding success. Some of the details are:

(1) Dramatic improvement in insulin sensitivity - my HbA1C dropped from 6.4% to 5.9% (just below the top of the normal range for nondiabetics). I control my T2 diabetes with diet and exercise alone (i.e., no diabetes meds)

(2) My weight dropped by 7 pounds. I weigh myself every morning stark naked before my shower. For the last 4 years, I have consistently been 143.5 pounds +/- 1 or 2 pounds. I'm now 136.5 pounds, which is what I weighed in high school.

(3) Improved sense of well being, in particular my 3-piece set, which has better erectile response and recovery than before.

My DHT is now middle to upper normal range. Before it was in the lower quartile of normal.

Very interesting! Thanks for the update. Do you have the results of a recent DHT lab that you can post?

I just wish I could figure out why my DHT went up so high over 2000 range 36 to 573. My Dr. feels it is the HCG I am making more T then I need and it is getting converted into DHT. I was only on 250 IU's the 5th and 6th days after my shot. It is still way to high and now I am doing 100 IU's the last 5 days after my T shot so this is 5 100 IU shots a week. My E2 has leveled off but still need to do Arimidex .5 mgs. on the days of the hcg shots.

My daily protocol is: HCG at bedtime, DHT cream before breakfast and Indolplex/DIM after dinner. I also take one Centrum Silver, 15/1 mg zinc/copper, and three potent fish oil tablets (one at each meal) per day. That's everything.

Before starting DHT cream, my DHT was consistently about 35 (25 to 75). Since starting DHT cream I've had 3 blood tests: 46, 64, 46.

I cannot remember, did you ever just try a transdermal gel or cream (which elevates DHT nicely as well as T)?

He didn't as he is secondary. If I remember correctly, the HCG alone got his total t to the upper 1/3rd.

you started it recently....though.

i think ( maybe not ) sunkist compounds his own.....he talked about it.....

swale or anybody that knows this for sure-> dht levels do not matter ? but the ratio to estrogen ?

so with bph it doesn't matter how high dht levels go but the ratio to estrogen ?
