ok, i went from 380lbs to 230lbs doing atkins, but revised. I was having NO carbs at all. Now I'm having maybe 30g carbs day. Is it best to stay lwo carb or should i switch to regular diet, low fat. I feel guilty as all hell eating carbs. Any diets u can recommend...i wanna drop a few more pounds but keep protein high..i eat about 250g protein day.

Congrats on your progress! What are your goals now that youre down to 230?

thanx...wanna beef up, get more defined....its rough staying on low/no carb all the time ya know....

Since you have been low carbing it for so long, I would suggest slowly working carbs back into your diet. If youre at 30g now, up it to 60g for a week. See if you notice any changes in energy, mood, and so on. If all goes well, then move to 100g. Then repeat and see what level you feel most comfortable at.

Bulking up while on low carb is tough, so you would have to make some adjustments in order to do so. For example, go with 75-100g carbs during the week, then do a high-carb, low-fat refeed for about 24-36 hours, say from Fri-Sat. For example, if youre at 75g carbs and 2200 calories during the week, your beginning refeed might be 600g carbs, 50g fat and 5000 calories over that 24-36 hour period.

Man that is a shitload of carbs...I just have to get over the guilt of eating them.what kind of carbs do you suggest? Thanx..

Guilt? From what? Eating carbs?...I would have more guilt from not reaching my goals because I wouldn't eat carbs. And, from advise from a Dr. who died in bad health, and who's own wife debunks his 'low carb' diet as bad.

I get my carbs mostly from cereal, potatoes, pasta, and carbhohydrate mixes. All good sources. A good high-carb drink mix can give you some extra energy and endurance during workouts, and the carbs are essential before and after a workout to feed your muscles.
