Dietary styles

I like a relatively clean macro based diet most of the year 40-40-20 or 30-50-20 usually , and I stay basically around 10-12% bf i'd guesstimate . On the other hand if im cutting into single digit bf i prefer carb cycling , 4-5 day at 0-40g carbs , 1 moderate day(200-250g) , and one high day (350-400g).. I don't think it burns more fat per say but when I start reducing my my macros I hit a certain point where I get ridiculous hunger pangs and eventually end up cheating lol... on the other hand when I carb cycle Its just alot easier to cut my calories lower and not have the endless hunger pangs . Plus the thermic effect of protein is alot higher then carbs and fats , so when Im eating high protein moderate fat and low to no carbs most of the week its just generally harder to over eat (not impossible though lol).. the one down side is the last day or so before you refeed it can be hard to keep intensity up in the gym , or put in a grueling cardio session ! Also , sucks looking flat as shit all the time too but you just gotta stay focused on what your try to achieve and let go of your ego for awhile ..

I generally follow a macro diet, set my protein first then fat, then balance is carbs depending on goals. I eat super clean on work days, since it is easy to prep and eat on schedule. On days off I eat clean and add in a bit of cheating with beer and going out to eat with wife or friends. I can gain or lose easily with adjusting starchy carbs for veggies

Depends on your goals. If you're trying to be a serious competitor then you can't just fit anything in your diet. You'll never see any Olympian today cutting and eating ice cream 12 weeks out from a show. I think a lot of people misconstrue iifym as a eat brownies and pancakes everyday diet just because you can fit them in your macronurient intake. If you make smart concise food choices with iifym then it can be a very effective diet because in reality it is just a macronurient diet which allows you to twist your intake to allow a cheat meal every now and then. In my opinion beginners should learn a typical macro diet until they get the hang of meeting their intake then once they become more "food conscience" they can start implementing cheat days without ruining their diet.

Yeah I do the same and say "macro dieting"
Best way I heard cheat meals explained is this:
If your cutting and let's say at 500cal under maintenance your at 2500cal/day, that's 17,500cal a week.
So the weekend comes and fri night they go nuts and kill a 2000cal cheat, and agin on Sunday bringing your weekly total up to 21,500cals.
Maintenance is 21,000 and with your cheats your at 21,500.... so those cheats fucked your whole week up and they wonder why there's no weight loss.
With macros there's no reason you shouldn't be able to fit your "cheat meals" in your daily macro allowance

What you're calling macro dieting is the same exact thing as IIFYM which is also known as DCA.

The only thing im very aware of is getting around 275-300grams of protein. Moderate carbs and fat. Im not stepping on stage so if i really want something im going to eat it. Im ok with being 15% bf. Im sure i'd look better if i cleaned up my diet but i enjoy food to much.

Life isn't worth living unless you're enjoying fatty cuts of meat on a grill or smoker....oh wait, demonbitch basically ended my dreams and reason to live. You might see me on the evening news under "peaceful weed smoker turns crazed in murder/suicide on the 10 o'clock news"

Amen to most of that. LMAO. I'm good with the grilling and weed. The whole murder/suicide plot sounds sketchy Doc. You don't fit the profile. Or do you??? Alter ego?? I could see the whole Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde scenario. LOL. Love you Doc.

Fine. I'll pour blood all over them and then drop them in the lion exhibit at the zoo. I can't be blamed for nature taking its course lolol

I'm not far from the Bronz Zoo. I should make a trip there. They have some amazing exhibits
You've never been?? We take the kids there all the time. We just went on Fathers Day. Takes about 2 hours for us to get there. The only zoo I've been to that's better is San Diego. We love the Bronx Zoo. Easy to get to and in a safe area.

I've been there many times but not in the past like 10 years. Its long overdue. Another good spot is the botanical gardens and the Met. Love going to the Met
