Dirts Brew log

You guys still at this brewing business?

I got a couple hundred grams of test D from QSC, but I still have a couple years worth of oils to go through before I'll need to touch it.

Also any thoughts on HGH raws? Lobster is selling it by the gram, no idea if that's even practical for end users like us though, you probably need a more expensive set up right?
Yeah the equipment you would need to to make hgh would be very expensive. I'm sure it's a much more complicated process3ghan just v embracing a little gear!!!

Nope, HGH raws forget about it. You will not have the equipment for it and if you manage to get it you will need a very very long time to recoup the cost of it

@Dirthand @Sampei @Ghoul whats the max temp youve ran oil through a PTFE filter? Ive been using 130f but take oils up to 170f as Ive noticed that temperature helps everything come together and prevents future crashing IMO, its worked for me. But id like to know if 170f would be to hot? Thanks.

I filter at 60/65c max I believe PTFE can withstand 70c easily and 80c or even higher temperature for a short period of time.

You sure you bringing the oil at 170f? Or you just setting the hotplate to 170f?

Because I do set the hotplate at 70/75c but even after 30+ minutes the oil reach at max 60c

I set it at 170f but like your saying it most likely doesnt reach that temp. But it does get hot.

Buy a laser temperature gun, it cost peanuts and measure the oil. It will be 55/60 max and that's perfect for ptfe and it will let you filter super quick with syringe filter

You and @Ghoul always making me buy more stuff LOL. I had one of those for my pizza oven lol but my son used it as a toy and broke it haha.

Just get a thermal imager. It can measure spot temps like a laser temp gun, and you can use it around the house to find air leaks, circuit breakers running hot, etc.

The $125 models on Temu are good enough for home use.

Lmao you go from one good thing to something higher class lol. It was enough with the gazillion stoppers LOL. Thanks brother

Here's how the math works in my head.

I'm going to buy a temp laser gun for $60 anyway,

That $60 is gone, money sunk.

However, I now have the (fleeting) opportunity to get a thermal imager for just $65.

(This is also how I end up ordering every option for laptops and cars, lol).

do you use some type of thermometer that you can place in the oil to determine the temperature? i bought a digital thermometer specifically for that,, i also have a laser thermometer,,

I just use we a clip on digital thermometer. My hotplate is the same I can set it to 100c and the solution will only get to about 70-75 max.. the gun would be a cool thing g to have.. not to mention one less thing to sterilize..
Peace

Yes my magnetic stirrer hot plate as a thermometer probe you can place in the oil and it will automatically regulate the temperature of the hot plate following the oil temperature and the settings you have decided you want the oil to be.

So if I set 70c and the probe of the magnetic plate is active it will turn the plate even higher than 70c until the probe in the oil sense 70c and then it will keep the oil exactly at that temperature.

If I don't activate the probe it just brings the hotplate base to 70c for example and keep it there, that translates to different temperature depends on the beaker size and oil quantity in it.
