FWIW, I think OP might be telling the truth. ds.com was supposedly blocked by ICANN on Jan 1, 2015, so how is it possible the OP has control of the .com site 2 weeks later? Why wouldn't the guy with the .net site be able to access his own .com site? Something's not adding up here.
Spam maybe? Sometimes sites can be blocked due to spam attacks or malware. I am also thinking the site may been hacked/taken over.

Yeah I hear you, the same thoughts crossed my mind. His excuse was that he didn't set his account for an automatic renew and when the 1st came around someone jumped onto it since he didn't own it anymore. Blah blah blah. Someone would have to be crazy to fuck with either one of these guys.
Possibly, but he didn't mention any problems on Jan 3. You'd think if a source's website was hacked or blocked due to spam, they would let their customers know what happened. This guy said nothing - just a brief mention that the .com was down and it would be back up in 48 hours.
Perhaps the OP locked him out of the .com site, so he was forced him to start a new one. Like I said, the "accepted" story on MS is not adding up.
