Evening workouts

because of a full schedule I've had to move my workouts to the PM (8 o clock) and I have some questions about PWO nutrtition. I know most stay away from eating carbs in the later hours because of increased insulin sensitivity. I'm wondering if this will translate into an advantage for me (I'm bulking right now so I don't mind a little extra fat) but also how to handle meals after this. I have a maltose/dextrose/protein shake right after my workout (which is usually 9 pm) and that's it. I'm wondering if I'm cheating myself by not eating another meal between my shake and bedtime. Anyone else workout late that could give me some advice?

Me personally, I like to eat chicken or fish and some cheese before bed, give my body some slower to digest protein to chew on.

Say, 1 can of chicken, about 4oz of cheddar or 2-3 mozzarella sticks and just a few saltines with water.

Not a huge meal, but a decent amount of protein. Of course I always follow meals and shakes with O3 fats.

Some of my best works outs have been at night. I try to fit in a 1/2 hr cat nap during the afternoon the day of an evening work out.

Working out later is good, there's not so many people in the gym so you dont have to wait for others to finish with equipement, and if you like to do a bit of supersetting the gear is free.
How are you liking it?
About the meal,if you are bulking, you should definately eat it.
You will not get any bigger by not eating it.
I always have a scoff before bed and always wake up hungry during the night, when I'm juiced
Bulking is good fun, you can eat the hell out of everything.

Hello, yeah there is no problem if you schedule your workout time in the evening or even later. I am also doing the same as my work does not permit me to perform them in the wee hours of the morning. Although I am not into getting extra pounds rather I am doing exercises for the opposite reason still the benefits are the same, i.e. whatever you aim for. My coach confirmed this to me and I have seen him succeed in his efforts. As far as the diet following this is concerned I think the diet that you are following at present suits your purpose perfectly. So dont worry and carry on as usual as you have been doing.

Yes..you are cheating yourself big time ! Do the shake as soon as you walk in the door from the gym.Right before bed eat again..preferably a slow digesting protien..I like cottage cheese late at night...or eat a balanced meal after you work out and do the protien..hopefully slower digesting type as you are crawling into bed.You gotta feed those muscles ! asap when you wake up drink another shake and then eat breakfast.

Absolutely, and don't forget to include complex carbs as well (I asuume that's what was meant by 'ballanced').

#1 no carbs before bed or you'll gain fat is nonsense myth.
#2 regular carb intake after a workout is important.

The only difference between the workout being mid-day/morning vs. night is that I would add fats to the meal after the shake. Any whole food protein (or really non-whey) would be good at this meal.

Keep the fast digesting carbs in your PWO and then a meal 45 minutes after consisting of high protein and healthy fats with a vegetable.
