My top 5 favorite bands of all-time

#1 - Soundgarden - hands down the greatest rock band in history. Chris Cornell has a 3 octave voice..........enough said about that fine man.
#2 - Rage Against the Machine - by far my favorite band to lift weights to.
#3 - Alice in Chains / Jerry Cantrell - for those of you who have never listened to "Boggy Depot" by Jerry Cantrell - go out and buy it. I can listen to it for 5 straight hours and not get tired of it.

hey dbpress, who'd thunk it bro. we have soooo much in common... lol... my favorite bands are also soundgarden and alice in chains. cornell is the premier rock vocalist, bar none. he also has some pretty cool pop vocal chops as evidenced by his solo efforts. the guys is truly incredible.

i saw alice in chains at the cat club in '90 in nyc, front and center as there were no seats in the venue, before they reallly broke out and, let me say, it was one of the best shows i'd ever seen. i just got goose bumps as i got a flashback of staley singing a scorching rendition of 'love hate love'. oh maaaaan.

aaah the memories... they just don't make 'em like they used. :D

hey pats, the dead a good live band? one of the best? not trying to start anything, but are you deaf bro? those fuckers, and the burnout backup chick singer, can't hold one fucking note in key. wtf??? i've seen them twice as i got a freebie from a friend and although the music is ok, when they can manage to foucs, they didn't sound good live. i don't know bro...

Hey no problem chippy..let me start by saying I was a metalhead in high school and used to beat up people that liked the dead...On my 21st B-day my brother took me to a show on 2 hits of botter and I must say..it changed me for good..

Now obviously this was when Jerry was alive but they truely are INCREDIBLE live. Its not many shows when you see 100% of the audience out of there seat for the whole time plus you gotta love the blues and know that they change every song at every show and they sort of morph into each other..its tough to explain but either you dig them or you dont but they have sold out every show 15,000 and going so they must not be half bad bro ;)

Any Mike patton fans?
Faith no More
Mr. bungle
Fantomas
Tomahawk
lovage
just wondering?

patton is very talented and a multi-faceted artist. but, well, faith no more WAS kinda of gay. that IS why patton left in the first place. saw them several times in the early 90's as opening acts. they just plain sucked. and they were so gay... mr. bungle fucking rules!!! good call.

pats, i have cd's of jerry playing real killer music. one of the best is the 'pizza tapes'. it's a bluegrass recording of a jam straight off the board featuring jerry, dave grissom and tony rice. holy shit!!! killer stuff here. killer playing and superb sound from true virtuosos.

but the dead. i don't know bro. i too was on 2 hits of acid (snoopy blotter from back in the day) and i love the blues and the audience participation but they just sucked so bad. and you can't really expect the argument, 'hey the sold a lot of seats and records' to fly. i mean just look at milli vanilli, for example...

Actually the Dead sold very few records as most self respecting fans hate the studio shit..Gotta love the internet and the fact that you can now download any show you want for free. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one brother..I hit 26 shows when Jerry was with us and loved every one. I even saw them (The Other Ones) last a year and a half ago at the Fleet and was impressed and will be going to see the Dead July 31st at the Tweeter Center.

I remember that snoopy cid..that was a long time ago...damm we are gettin old.
