Filter Needle

Which are recommended for amps. So no glass gets in them.

Would a 5 micron Blunt filter needle be good?

Just use a small gauge needle to draw up the gear. The trick with amps is to score them on the notch line with a sharp knife before breaking it at the neck. I've done hundreds by sticking the top bit into the hole of a clothing peg while gently holding the bottom with a piece of cloth.

There's no way you're going to pull up a glass splinter through anything over 25g, and even if you did, it won't do any harm unless you shoot it IV. Amps are the go-to for pharma, vacs, etc, but I've never seen a nurse or GP use a filter needle.

I got the 19g 5 micron filter needles from medlabgear. Just pointing this out because a buddy of mine had hell the first time he tried drawing with one...just be sure to hold the plunger back to get the oil to come into the barrel. I'm guessing because he was used to using 18g no filter that he didn't think about having to hold the plunger back to get it to go through the filter.

Nurses do in fact use filter needles or straws for ampules, its required, they usually give this types of drugs IV though so they toss it and you never see it

For IV shots yes. Haven't seen it done for voltaren, vacs, or any IM injections. But I'm happy to concede that I might not have been paying attention.

This is incorrect. Glass particles range from 10–85 micrometers, far smaller than even a 34g needle inside diameter of 0.0826mm.

Always use filter needles with glass ampoules.

This is why I love when I see you post sir.

Vacs come pre filled and I've never even seen voltaren in an ampule so that would be new to the hospital settings I've been in.

Yeah, not necessary until "infusion of glass microparticles resulted in pulmonary silicosis and nodular fibrosis of the liver, spleen, and the small bowel."

My whole arm is full of glass from an MVA, but I guess they're bigger particles. Still, curious how a tiny shard would cause an issue unless it's pinned IV?

Edit: But agree - just because some people never get ill from eating rotten food from the trash doesn't make it safe :D

Erin for being on steroids your quite a pussy. Like I said, I've shot over 500 amps, and never used a filter needle.

OP- take peoples exerpeinces over what noobs like ERin people read and thing they know. Erin is some noob whos prob never used amps. Brollocks and i are both experienced and would not give you bad advice

Not taking sides here, but I don't think that one has to use amps at all to know whether or not there is a potential risk of micro glass particles being transferred via needle draw from amp to syringe.

Again, not taking sides, but if the Myth Busters dudes - who appear to NEVER have used AAS/amps/syringes/etc - studied this (without the help of any of us meathead users) and concluded it could happen, would you refuse to believe their findings based on their lack of personal use?

Yes, I have used amps, as have many of my friends, and no, none of us have ever had issues, but I would not conclude that it is not a possibility.

Just my take...

Actually, I've used ampoules exclusively the last two cycles.

You could clean and reuse your syringes and needles too. Junkies do it all the time, and they're usually okay. Does that make you a pussy for not reusing your syringes and needles?
