First shot = nasty welt... is this a pip?

If.youve got a half inch needle you wont make it to muscle in glutes. You need a spot on your body with very little fat. I do front delts and mid thigh and I push a slin pin till it leaves a divot in the skin and it goes IM. Looks a lil freaky but doesnt hurt and works well.
 
Or get you some 1 inch needles. And go glutes. Super easy and very little discomfort.

^^^ This Exactly 1" . Also OP its not a race to see how fast you can inject the oil into your body. I learned that the hard way. Go slow. I now draw everything with a 21g, then switch and pin with a 25g. Takes a little longer to inject but worth it and totally pain free.
 
So if I try IM, where's a good place to try it? I'm 15% body fat. Delts?

But Mike Thurston got a full body scan last month and he came back at 15% BF.
Judging by your lic, you're closer to 19ish

Use 1 inch minimum, depth of injection into the muscle is an essential component as well
I have less BF% than you and my preferred needle right now is 25g 1 inch for everything. (I could manage to go 5/8 on chest)

My suggestions for you

Glute (Up to 3ml)
Delt (Up to 1ml)
Quad (up to 3ml)

Lots of guys hate quad, but it's super convieniant and easy to pin for newbies.
The PIP will not be fun at all, but welcome to steroids.
If you hit a nerve, pull out and move 1/2 inch away and respond immediatly.
Luck of the draw lol, I've hit nerves on my last 2 injections, really not that bad.

BF is easily misunderstood.
ICheck out a pic of Thurston... that's what 15% looks like... being checked by a FULL body scan.
10x more accurate than a scale or calipers.

LOL I hit a nerve for the first time on Wednesday in my right quad....Holy Fuck! It was the most uncontrollable electric sort of shock I've ever had. My arm almost instinctively pulled the needle out instantly. Weirdest thing I've ever felt!

When I failed mine your right no control automatically pullout the pin. 9n top of the electric shock I heard a big woomph like lighting a campfire with way too much gas.

In the meantime, since I've only got those little needles, I'll pin small loads into side delt. I don't want to be limping around, so I may avoid the Quads for now.
Do those tiny air bubbles in the end of the needle matter? Like should I plunge a little to push them out?

I push them out but have also forgotten with no ill effects... if you are pinning delts with a half inch make the top end of the needle dimple your skin... I am fairly lean in the shoulders and bury a 1 inch

Haha I was 15 percent then lost 10lbs of fat then I was 16 percent . Happened to every one of us. Don't sweat it. Don't worry about a tiny bit of air. There is even a called the airlock , you deliberately put some air at the back end of the injection to prevent it from leaking into the Subq fat. DO heat the oil to SLIGHTLY above body temperature to make it able to pass through the needle. Go slow!!!
If you go to fast it is like a water jet cutter in years your muscle! It will be very painful . Warm calm and slow.

Just overdraw a bunch of oil.
If I'm pinning my usual .75
I'll draw 1.25, flick it a bunch and push .5 back into the bottle.
That usually gets rid of 99% of bubbles.
A couple tiny ones wont kill you, even if you nick a vessel.
You can use human backhoes method tik.
But hes excessive and draws with 20g and swaps, I just draw and pin.
I'm not a connoisseur lol
just want to get that power oil into my muscles.

You can inject a lot of air into your muscle if you want! 3ml of air will be absorbed, you might get a little welt but it will go away. I don't recommend it, but you can. I inject the last bubbles so I get every last drop out.

What you don't want to do is inject air directly into your veins. However, even then 3ml is a small amount. Some of the guys on this board have tried killing themselves with 10ml+ of air straight to the vein with no "success."
 
No one's mentioning ventral glutes so I'll do it: Use ventral glutes. #1 spot. VG > DG.

Where is it? Find hip bone (iliac crest for you medical nerds) on the side of your body, then go 1-2" down and pin. Just stay above the greater trochanter of your femur and you're good. If you do hit bone accidentally, you die. Sorry about that. But it's unlikely -- I haven't done it in hundreds of pins using 1" needles. Huge amount of muscle buried there, the gluteus medius and minimus, and also the tensor latae if you pin too far forward but that can take juice too so no big deal.

Honestly, never tried Ventro.
Dont really need to.
I'm a less is more kind of guy, so you'll never see me pinning huge amounts of gear
But I've read nothing but good things
