First Show

What’s up Meso? I’m pretty sure this is my first post here; long-time reader though (I usually find the answer to whatever questions I have in old threads).
I’m 35 years old and thinking of doing a show in the next year or so. I really like the classic aesthetic but am thinking I may not have the size to be at all competitive (even at the local level).

Current weight is 180lbs. Eating in light surplus (+300) at 3600 cal. (25P/25F/50C). Training 5-6 days a week for 60-90 min (I do sport specific training and some PT stuff for a living so I’m in the gym all day. I know I could probably use another day off).

Was cruising at 200mg and just recently started a blast of 600 test/ 300 dhb. Not really trying to throw more drugs in until I start prepping, as I’ve always maintained good labs and would like to keep it that way.

These are pictures taken within the last week; my question is: Is it realistic for me to try and show classic division in the next year? Or should I start prepping for physique class and revisit next year? I have no delusions of being the next bumstead or anything, I’d just like to be competitive at the local level.

Thanks in advance for the time, I love meso (particularly the gang-like bantering of potential sources)! Sorry for skipping the intro, if it’s a big deal I can always drop one later.

-Kevin

Do classic physique, men’s physique will gig you for the development you have, in other words don’t do the board shorts class!!
Thanks for the response man. I’ve always been more concerned with just being in shape; I’m new to the aggressively gaining weight thing (at 3600 “clean” cal I’m eating constantly. I feel like I’d need 5k to be a lean 190).
You mass-monster guys are next level.

Takes a very long time and a serious commitment to eating, my first 5 years in the gym was nothing but eating for mass gain, thereafter it would be occasional periods of cutting up but still 75% eating for size. Once I was about 20 years into it my goals changed and I tried to stay in a deficit more often

What’s your height?

And regarding the MP comment; they aren’t marking down for size: OP would be small on a National physique stage. Those guys aren’t small anymore.

So after getting to the 4-5k range so you increase fats and carbs proportionately? Would there be anything wrong with me bumping my fats and subbing out fats for carbs calorie for calorie as I adjust to the higher food volume? Or would fats at say 40% be a quick way to get fat (I know a certain amount of fat gain is expected)?

I’m 5’9”. Had maintenance set at 32 and bumped to 36 a few weeks ago. Averaging 1 pound a week right now; hoping to make it 2 with this next bump. I read your log too man. Super informative; congrats on the card.

I’d actually prefer to do classic physique; I just don’t know if at my age it’s realistic to put that much weight on my frame and maintain it. I figured I’d probably need another 15-20 quality pounds. I’m pretty new to the sport though so I could be mistaken.
Thanks for the time fellas!

Do what you like dude. You don’t need to max a class out to look good or do well.

Greetings to you! Please tell me what are your feelings when using DHB? Many people on MESO talk about this steroid. What do you see as his advantage for yourself?

I just found a drug that worked for me. I can get some estrogen sensitivity even at the top of range, so I didn’t want something that aromatizes. I don’t tolerate nandrolones well beyond 6 weeks or so, and I wanted an ester shorter that undecylenate. I’ve honestly never seen huge differences in some of these drugs (visually), but have found what I eat is really what dictates weather I get the results I want. It’s certainly not magic, but I’ve been happy with the effects so far. I can’t really add anything I haven’t read in every dhb thread in the steroid section.

Honestly it doesn’t even need to be that specific. At that point you just need to stay in abundance calorie wise and use the mirror to gauge fat gain. Simplify it, definitely don’t overcomplicate it or it’ll be so overwhelming you won’t stick to it
