Flexibility

Lol I know Kajukenbo too well. My first krav school was in Hawaii and I felt like one of those old karate movies where they wanted to come in and challenge me. It is awesome.
I believe the older we get the more we should focus on stretching. I just hate it and have trouble sitting in static stretches without getting bored. Trigger point therapy was wonderful when I had this beautiful trainer doing it to me but not so great on my own. I still have the rolling pin thing wrapped in original plastic.

That's funny... I remember my Sifu and I went around on a "tour" of the major HK schools to test everyone out when I was training with him there back in the 90s. The first time we walked into a place and Sifu shouted out some shit in cantonese I thought, "Wow, this really is just like the movies!".

But on to stretching; I like to do all my stretching work before I work out. Getting loose helps me to prevent injuries and allows me to use good form on everything. Especially when I squat. I can stretch pretty much the whole body in about 5-10 minutes, which is a small price for staying injury-free.

Thanks bro, I'm thinking I should incorporate something like this. But it's been recommended to me to finish off with some stretching movements to signal to the muscles to 'switch off'. Now this may be complete rubbish, but I'm going to check into it

stretching before and after doesn't seem like a bad idea, but I know what I'm like and it won't be sustained. I'm looking to get something going that I can keep consistent

Doing a bunch of static stretching before training has been proven to blunt the stretch reflex, which in turn will make you a bit weaker. I personally do a fairly extensive dynamic stretching routine before hand and save the static stretching for afterwards and on my off days.

I Only stretch AFTER working said muscle group, I try not to use weight that I can't get full ROM in either. Everything is deep from dips to deads
