Hi all. I went through a life altering sickness over the last 2 years. I went from a rotund 260 down to 140lbs in under a year. I was skin, bone and organs. When I was able to eat again, it was very unhealthy and I gained back 30lbs quickly!. Now I'm at a healthy 175lbs. I saw a nutritionist and she recommended I begin lifting weights. Never lifted to gain mass before, nor physique. I figure I'm pushing 50 so if I'm going to build my physique... I better do it NOW! So I stated lifting hard and after 3 months, I noticed I was gaining muscle and strength very fast. But not much changes in my physique. So I worked out harder and nothing happened at all. So I started researching bodybuilding and I became somewhat obsessed. Now I've gained 5lbs in muscle by eating a proper diet, sleeping and drinking tons of water.
I started listening podcasts about peds and my curiosity has brought me here. I want to learn learn learn, maybe get into brewing my own meds eventually. But not before I know exactly what I'm getting into. One thing I will keep doing is pushing weights and building as best I can. I have no idea how good my genetics are for bodybuilding since I was adopted. But I am very curious to see how big I can get starting from zero at 48 years old! For those of you who read my long ass post, I appreciate you.

Welcome. Just know you have a long way to go before you should remotely consider peds. Stay consistent with diet and training and build a solid base first.

You are at an age where you may benefit from TRT. Granted your history I would say it might be good to grab testosterone levels.

Welcome! This place is a great resource with more info and knowledge than anywhere else. The best piece of advice I can give is to learn, learn, then learn some more.

I agree. I want to reach my full potential naturally (who knows at my age?) before I consider peds. And I want to learn all I can learn about bodybuilding and peds before I put anything in my body.

I just started last week actually. I got a blood test and my t level was below 100. My diet and illness destroyed my t levels and production. So I hope the trt helps me get back to normal. Because I wasn't living, I was just existing.

Thanks man. And I agree 100% I'm totally green but totally dedicated for the long haul. I can't go through what I went through the last 2 years. It wasn't living.

I was wondering about this too. Illness and dramatic weight fluctuations can seriously impact endogenous T production.

If you've made good progress with low T levels, you should do really well with optimal (euphysiologic) levels of T.

I doubt you will need to explore anything more than therapeutic T use any time soon.

You might be tempted, but I agree with the advice to focus on spending extended period of time optimizing training and nutrition first. It will likely be enough to reach your goals.

I wouldn't say I've made great progress. Only because I see almost no visible change. But I can feel my arms, chest and shoulders getting harder, bigger and denser. Nothing in the physique department tho. But I'm stronger than I've been in 30 years for sure. I have no plans on doing anything other than trt for at least a year maybe 2. Being 48 and starting from absolute zero, I have no idea of my genetic predisposition for building muscle or physique. So my goals are up in the air. I'd like my goal to be a big guy. Who knows?? I do know my biological mother and she is a big woman (not a healthy big) and i gain weight (fat) very very quickly. Does thay impact bodybuilding?
But I am going to see where I am after a year before even considering peds.

Welcome. Even though you don't know your genetics. I believe you can obtain a DNA test somewhere so you have an idea what your genetics are like. I don't remember where I read this though.
