For Veterans must read

I got out in 93 and didn't start using my insurance until 2008
I don't usually see doctors but a friend of my mother's told me they will help with my drug addiction and they did with that. .

Well they took me away for 4 months into a Doms in Bath NY which gave me some time to clear my head ..
And hook up with my Army roommate's wife :)

Agreed on that. Im no stranger to coatsville VA M.C. The VA did come through years ago at one point in my life....I just think later on with the influx of Vets coming through, they became so overwhelmed, shit went south....just my experience tho...also good job on taking care of your battle buddy's wife...lol!

Haha yea well I felt it was my duty :)
She seduced me actually and living in a Doms away from home with no money bored as fuck it wasn't hard ..
Plus I love pussy so much and she was.. still is a cute little thing ..

She just bought a house and wants me back up there but her getting me locked up once was enough for me to understand I'd wind up killing the bitch sooner or later. .

My sister asked if I wanted to go to Queens I said really Queens I'd find drugs there the first day :)

I was ready to get clean anyway I knew I had one shot or my family would push me to go to meetings and I'm not going to meetings.
I told my sister too many junkies at those meetings haha
My family is the best they always support me with everything

I cleaned from the drugs fast basically because.. well I think because I've only been doing them a few years during my separation from my wife and then divorce but the alcohol was harder
I stopped that because my ex had brain cancer.. cancer for the 7th time so I Knew I needed to cut the shit and take care of her which turned out like a relationship from hell anyway

Question for my fellow vets....it has been brought to my attention that my dd214 and honorable discharge certificate were lost in a move recently...actually thrown out by mistake. I found a way to recover my dd214 but is there a way to get my certificate reduplicated???

@franchise24, thx for the info bud.

I have insurance so the VA, for me is an after thought, haven't been there since I got out....it's been awhile!

I watched the VA hack my dad up for years prior to his passing.

Not to say advancements haven't been made, I just hope that the vets currently utilizing the VA have positive experiences.

With all the fucking handouts out there.....we should 1st think of those that were unselfish enough to stand up when others wouldn't or couldn't for their country.

Your DD214 is held at the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) - National Archives at St. Louis. You can use a link on this page The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) to directly request your paperwork from them. I've done this as a test and it took a couple of weeks. You can also call once you submitted your request to check on the status.

Note: a fire in 1973 destroyed about 80% of Official Military Personnel Files - but I'd doubt this would be an issue for most members here.
